Doing Normal difficulty dungeons as a Veteran

DoZakar
DoZakar
Hello all,

During my run through level 1-50 in the Aldmeri Dominion, I skipped the dungeon City Of Ash, because I couldn't find a group. At the time I told myself that I could come back later to get the skill point. However since then I hit veteran rank 3 and now when I attempt to enter the dungeon, it says I cannot because I do not have the required veteran level (I think the veteran version of the dungeon is for vr5-10). Which sucks because I want to enter the normal version of the dungeon to get the skill point.

So my question is this: did I basically lose the ability to gain the skill point from City Of Ash's normal dungeon run?

Go into groups and select the normal dungeon button at the top.
You can do the normal dungeons any time.

I already tried that, you cannot queue for dungeons you're overleveled for.

EDIT: Oh I see, you didn't mean to queue for them. Gotcha. Thanks!

Make sure the dungeon is set to normal difficulty in the grouping tool.
Optionally make an lower level character invite you.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Go in group P and lock at the top . There is a toggle for Dungeon Mode.

I think that you can't use the group tool for normal as a vet . Find some people that are in the same situation as you and do them.

This is true, The level cap prevents going back to pick up the skills points in the dungeons you missed or didn't get a chance to do when you were leveling. If there were to be a "hard mode" at level 50 of all the dungeons in the game or a way to teleport to those locations and solo it would solve this issue.

Well by switching to Normal mode in the dungeon window I have been able to enter Normal City Of Ash, but finding a group is a pain because I can't queue for it. I'm just trying to solo it.

This is not true. I only started doing normal dungeons solo at VR4. Just toggle the dungeon mode.If you do the quest you get the point.

Just go to the equivalent regular level zone and look in /z chat. Did 2-3 dungeons yesterday and picked up on-level players that were happy for the run through

Ya, I had a couple that I needed to go back and do (they were probably bugged at the time, not sure now?)......I just did them solo (I think one of them was where you had to put a boss mobs head on a spike?)......and then go kill some big bugs (forgot what you call them?)

First time I've felt like a bad ass in the game..HeHe

I had that problem when doing the Cyrodil dungeon as a vet char. I had found three other players on non-vet chars, but as long as I was in the team the dungeon would be set to veteran level, no matter what. I had to leave the team for one of them to enter the instance, then re-invite me and I could finally enter the normal instance too. Painful.

You can not use the grouping tool but have to ask, in chat.
Note that most players love to have veterans in their dungeon runs :)

Indeed, you can always double back...

As a courtesy, and it probably goes without saying, I usually ask how much help lower level characters are wanting from my higher level character...

Assistance is great, but don't automatically steam-roll everything for the rest of the group, especially if one or more of them are doing the dungeon for the first time.

Hard as it is to not throw a devastating hit in there, the right amount of help will be met with appreciation, vice animosity.

Very few things more irritating than being in a quest or a dungeon as a lower (than someone assisting) level character and just being along for the ride...
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.
I am neither warm, nor fuzzy...
Probably has checkbox on Customer Service profile that say High Aggro, 99% immunity to BS

Yes that's what I ended up doing, but I still find it impractical. ZOS should just let us queue for any dungeon we want.

And let lower-level players get carried? No thanks. Make them work for it if they want a VR player to do all the hard work.

There won't be a lot of Veteran characters willing to do multiple runs of normal dungeons. Most will want to do one or two to get a missing skill point. Opening up the grouping tools for them won't create balancing issues.

It will when they start selling runs to lower levels.

You got a point there, but its not like they can't do it now. And besides, lower level characters don't really have the funds to pay for runs.

Ya, also note when you join a group the Normal/Veteran option may be changed depending on what the group leader has selected at the time.
