*UPDATED - 21/05/2014*

Hello All,

To start, I would just like to say that the purpose of my posting this build is not to suggest that it is in any way the "best" of its kind of build.

I post this, as a means to perhaps give people some ideas on how they would like to build their Nightblade (I've spent enough money on re-specs with zero ideas on what I am looking to achieve).

I haven't completed the build yet, and am yet to calculate what gear is the most efficient (I'm also in the process of levelling some of these skills. I will endeavour to get this updated with additional information, perhaps help from the community will complete this build sooner than if I did it myself.

Even if I help just 1 person, then I would consider it worth my time to write this. I'm also open to critiques on this build (as I said, I'm not claiming it's perfect).

1. Overview

I'm a big fan of the traditional assassin archetype (big crits, quick ST DPS and evasion). I've enjoyed it ever since playing as an Assassin in Ragnarok Online.

I'm not looking at wearing a bathrobe and dazzling my enemies with pretty lights. I want to get in there, stab the enemy in the kidney and vanish before they even realise what's going on.

2. Build

3. Bar 1 - Single Target DPS

For this, I would be using dual daggers for the crit bonuses.

Flying Blade - This is a great DPS stamina dump. It's also worth have at least 1 ranged skill so you can maintain DPS outside of AoEs (e.g. trolls and gargoyles are quite happy to spam these).

Killer's Blade - The spam skill when an enemy hits <25% HP that has a handy HP regen for the last hit. I will add though, that it would be worth considering replacing this skill with Ambush for PvP (as you'll notice that this build lacks a closer, which is crucial).

Reaper's Mark - The damage bonus (upon casting) and the larger heal on the kill is great. If you're looking at using this bar to take on small groups then Mass Hysteria may be a good alternative to have instead.

Surprise Attack - Your initiator and primary magika dump (before Killer's Blade). The armour reduction is much, MUCH more appealing to me than the sneak speed bonus (in both PvP and PvE).

Shadowy Disguise - Could go for either morph to be brutally honest, as they are both equal in terms in terms of quality (obviously dependant on what your aiming for in your build).

Soul Harvest - I like this skill, it has decent damage and increases ultimate accumulation.

Although rotations are quite situational, the rotation I tend to use is (from sneak):

Reaper's Mark > Shadowy Disguise > Surprise Attack > Flying Blade > Killer's Blade

* The number of spams of the skills is solely dependant on the no. of enemies (i.e. I am not going to exhaust my entire stamina and magika pool on 1 mob if there are 2 others trying to kick me in the nuts).

For PvP, I tend to use this loadout for taking/ defending keeps, as the enemy "blob" are fairly static. If I am out roaming supply lines, I replace Killer's Blade with Ambush.

4. Bar 2 - AoE

For the damage bonus, I would use dual swords

Steel Tornado - The stamina dump and the increase range outweighs the stamina regen as it resets are every use (i.e. if your spamming it, you get nothing until you run out of stamina).

Power Extraction - The magika dump with a damage bonus.

Siphoning Attacks - For AoE, I don't mind taking the hit in DPS if it means that I can sustain it for longer.

Volcanic Rune - Good CC and a handy opener.

Shadowy Disguise - A good damage mitigation skill that also takes advantage of a number of passives (damage+ & resistance+).

Flawless Dawnbreaker - There solely for the damage+ passive, I only tend to use my ultimate for the 1st bar (although I don't see any harm in replacing it with Soul Siphon or any other ultimate that piques your interest).

Rotation is fairly simple (with Siphoning Attacks active):

Volcanic Rune > Power Extraction > Steel Tornado

5. Gear

<<Pending Update>>

Well there you have it. I know it was a little long, but I hope that you enjoyed the read and I thank you for taking the time to do so.

Thanks,

Isn't the Dagger crit bonus from twin and blade still bugged?

As far as I can recall, the fix is in 1.1 or 1.2.

I based my build on the assumption that all things would (in time) work as intended.

A few things I noticed. Opening with suprise attack is not more optimal than a regular sneak attack, as you are a stam based build it does less damage, for optimal openers from stealth, try using your ultimate soul harvest you will 6k+ crits in vet ranks.

Your aoe choices are weird. Whirling blades is less optimal than its increased range counterpart, the stamina regen component of this ability is over time, and as such does not work when the ability is spammed, as the regen just refreshes its duration and never actually ticks. Sap essence IS good... but the other morph that increases max targets and weapon damage gained has far more synergy with your build, as after a few casts the targets health will be lower, and your weapon damage higher, giving a double bonus to your whirlwind. Also having stealth on your aoe bar is very handy, giving you access to a massive armor and spell resistance buff when you are taking large amounts of damage is far more important than the minor healing refreshing path and sap essence will provide.

I do however agree with your choice in flying blade as your main stam dump, I prefer it over the rapid strikes combo... at least untill its fixed, to actualy increase attack speed.

Thanks for the feedback, you make some very valid points (some of which I forgot or was completely unaware of). Your recommendations make alot of sense, so I'll update accordingly.
