Yet another solution for the BOT madness ....

Split the mega servers in two. Make one F2P and the other subscription based. On the F2P server have an auction house and cash shop. For the subbased server have it you get what you earn or find on your own (No auction house, no trading, and every item is soul bound to the player that found it or made it). This way you make the lazy RMT crowd happy and botters and the folks that want to have a sense of accomplishment to their gaming will be happy with a fair environment. B)

I find no trading and pure soul bound to be a huge punishment. I would rather give up currency (gold) and revert to barter only. But still, huge punishment.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

I'd rather gold spammers and what not be spun off into their own server without being told so they don't know when they've lost those bots.

I have a solution, wipe out humanity. Likely the only way to solve the "Bot" or "Gold Sellers" problem. And I guarantee you it would work.

Short story, there is no concrete solution, if there is a possibility of making money this way, there will be bots and gold sellers, case and point.

Please be careful in regards to what you ask for. You may think you have a grand solution. But, you may wind up making it harder on the legitimate community than it already is. Fact is farming for resources is an outdated notion. Only the die-hards want the so-called immersion. The rest of us have lives and other real world things to do. Nobody in their right mind -- even though I'm guilty of this myself -- should spend their whole day playing an MMO. The fact that the game requires that sort of "investment of time" (not money) should be a huge red flag. MMOs need to look for new ways to engage their player base and not rely on "tried-and-true" staples of the classic MMO.

I speak for myself when I make this statement. I would rather spend my time completing quests and enjoying the story than being compelled to collect resources for alternate characters created for the purpose of crafting. Don't tell me that is what an MMO is. That is old school thinking. Farming is nothing but a time sink. Don't tell me I can buy everything I need either. That is not true. Between costs of bank expansion, mount training, equipment repairs, etc., the player has very little gold left over. As much as this doesn't apply to you, I ask are you adventuring alone and doing the things I have mentioned on your own? Well, I am. I'm crafting my own runes. I'm crafting my own weapons. I'm crafting my own armor. On top of that, I am chasing down my own materials amongst a sea of bots that use speed hacks, z-axis hacks, and teleporting. While we're at it, let's not forget about the players hired to do nothing but collect resources for gold selling sites.

The only way you rid yourself of this particular problem is to remove the incentive -- ie. monetary value of selling virtual goods via a gold selling website. That can only be accomplished by making all materials sold by vendors. Eliminate the need for the player to spend hours farming mats by having it readily available. Your precious economy will still survive because there will always be players that won't want to be that involved in the game.

Your idea for the P2P server is quite stupid...if anything they could do like SWTOR did and make it so FREE MEMBERS cant trade or anything.
