Please tell me which game that was, played em all, and this is first MMO i played where this happened.
And no i didnt buy gold, EVER, didnt visit sites and filled out my email and such, EVER.
This is beyond ridiculous, i can dig you want to defend ESO, heck im on first line to defend the GAME, im not on first line to defend it if im getting emails on my email linked to account from goldspammers ... [snip]

You received this in your personal email because your forum settings are set up to send you notifications when you receive private messages on the forums. If you look at the email address the email came from, it is from the forums, not from the gold sellers. There are several threads already regarding the gold sellers sending PMs on the forums, and you are encouraged by the moderators to add the PM sender's name to those threads so they can investigate this issue.

If you didn't opt out, you agreed to receive email spam through the eso forums.

As was already stated, if you uncheck the notification for receiving an email when someone private messages, you would only get the PM on the forums, and it would not show up in the your email.

I dont care for emails linked to ESO, i gladly click em.
getting one of those ingame gold sellers has nothing to do with ESO, yet here it is. its bad enough i have to write reports for half an hour if i wanna log in, now i have to write reports when i happen to check emails?
I dont get it, why does everyone think this is normal???? Am i only one who MMO'd before? yes there was bots, yes ive seen my fair share of goldspammers, I HAVE NEVER SEEN GOLDSPAMMERS SPAMMING MY EMAIL
And you are all defending it, ... oO? ... i say ... oO??????

I quit WoW 3 years ago and I still get spam emails on the email account I used pretending to be Blizzard and telling me an action has been taken against my account and to 'log in' to a fake battlenet site.

So yes, it's pretty normal. Relax, no one is defending this behavior, but there is no point in raging about it. ZOS has said they are working on it. If they don't fix it all of us will be gone.

I don't think you quite understand what's going on here. If I send you a PM through this forum, you will receive an email that looks very similar to this with my name and my message. That doesn't mean I have access to your personal email address, and if you don't want ESO to let you know when you receive PMs, it's very easy to disable.

I'm not saying that goldsellers spamming forum PMs is okay, but it's not the same as them somehow getting your personal info from ESO.

Guys, if you're getting emails from the TESO forums, edit your forum profile, and take the tick against the option for:

"Allow other members to see your email?"

    It's not rocket science.

Can I ask, if this guy is a "buddy", why don't the two of you communicate by:

    Email directly?
Web based text chat program like Facebooks messaging service?
    VOIP software such as Skype?
    TeamSpeak or Ventrillo (amoungst others)?
    Phone Call?
    Phone Text?

There's a million and one ways to deal with the issue of communicating between friends. Are you seriously telling me you rely on TESO forums to send you pm's via email? Seriously?

Relying on TESO's forums as a means of communication is extremely inefficient.
