Mage Light

I'd really like the option to tag an area or a friendly/enemy player with the Mage Light orb, similar to the mechanic in Skyrim, so that it could be used either as the current toggle or a ranged area reveal.

There isn't much of a counter at this point for detecting invisible enemy players at a distance, aside from running into them with Mage Light, and I think this could be a nice addition. Tanks/initiators could be tagged with it to reveal players as they engage, guards at resource camps could be tagged to reveal nearby defenders, that dude that just disappeared 30 meters away could potentially be revealed if you can tag the area near him before he moves too far away, etc.

I don't have a problem with Sneaking in general but I do dislike the lack of options for countering groups of players in stealth, aside from facechecking their stack to see how many players are actually clumped up together. I think this could provide a way to somewhat diminish this.

    I don't have a problem with Sneaking in general but I do dislike the lack of options for countering groups of players in stealth

    Stealth groups are a hard fact of life in the open fields of cyrodiil. You counter it by not riding around exposed and alone. If a group of 20 players has the discipline to stay clustered and stealthed and not blow their cover, they currently deserve the rich rewards awaiting them just like any succesful ambush.

    I wouldn't mind this idea as long as it revealed allies as well. I think its bad enough you can stealth around with a big glowing orb circling you.

    You cant. Anyone will see the ball far more easy then non-stealth and without. You can't hide the ball, if that's what you mean.

    I don't dislike that suggestion but it shouldn't be implemented. It would be entirely too easy to grief your own alliance without repercussion.

    Right, and this wouldn't change that. Ambush groups would still be just as successful, unless you define ambush groups as groups of players that Sneak in full view of the enemy and are invisible thereafter because magic.

    This is aimed at revealing areas where you know the enemy is and effectively combating a failed or poorly executed ambush.

    Funny, I do it all the time. Magelight would need a serious buff if it disabled stealth...

    Not sure what you mean? From what I know the game has changed from beta. When you use magelight, and stealth, enemies will not see the orb. Is this correct?

    Yes.

    Of course they can't see the orb - that would be absolutely insane.
    You can see the orbs of people on your own side only.

    Just in case someone is inclined to argue: I often stand on a rock or other vantage point, in stealth with my orb circling - I've had entire zergs go past without suspecting my presence.
    'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

    Right, enemies can't see the orb in stealth. They can see the orb while out of stealth.. sometimes it will bug.. well actually most of the time it will eventually bug so that no orb displays to anyone, but the caster of magelight.

    I run Inner Light on my Sorc all the time. If you are a stealth player you can notice a stealth magelight user as you immediately go detected when you get close to them even though you can't see them. Then you can circle around that area to find the hidden magelight user.

    Go to an alchemy station
    Make a potion using Corn Flower and Wormwood
    This combination gives 24 meters stealth detection for 10 seconds.
    When you pop a potion, all enemies in range are visible.

    With the 3 Reagents passive you can add a third ingredient
    Water Hyancinth adds Weapon Crit to the potion, which is great for physical attackers.
    Lady's Smock adds Increase to Spell Damage and Magicka recovery, which is great for casters.

    I've used these potions to spot entire 20+ man raids in stealth.
