RE: vet difficulty

I found the game enjoyably challenging until about halfway thru my vet 2 zone.
Now i am starting to questions things and I am dying ALOT.

I am not one to give up easy, i am respeccing and trying different strats etc.

But a couple things strike me as off.

First i am vet 2 and i have 0% crit. Only way to raise this that i am aware of is Medium armor. I use twohand and S&B so no passive skills for crit there.
Now i am not asking to be a crit machine. I am a tank. but seems like there should a base level crit. Most games do 5%.

Second correct me if im wrong. but there doesnt seem to be a way to raise weapon dmg. (or spell dmg) other than level up or a few armor peices might have +7 or so on them. Dumping points in Stamina doesnt seem to do it like i thought it did. So theres no way to gear up really.

In short i seems if your having a problem with the vet level your at there is nothing you can do but hope the next level is balanced better. I have all the passives available to me. I can change skills but if you put too many defense abilities on you bar then you are too gimped in dmg. You will run out of stam or mag. then die.

TLDR; i dont like that there is not much you can do to optimize your character at vet levels. cant up crit without armor change, can't increase weapon dmg. Can't really add too many def abilities because of limited bar space. Basically you just have to wait and hope the next vet level is better.

there is always always always something more or better you could be doing

alot of people have to change specs when they start to get deeper into vr content.

look at ways to mitigate, look at ways to return health, look at ways to cc. you might have to invest in skills you overlooked before.

read up a little on theorcraft. there is help here too but your class is the bare bones info needed to advise.

just hit vr1...and don't see any difference in difficulty. Strange. NB bow, with poison arrow, knockback, stealth, veiled strike, and that base siphon skill. It's, kinda easy.

I suppose it could get harder and harder, but, it's that way for everyone. I figure more ad hoc groups will pop up now, which I kinda like. So tired of solo'ing.

Love the Packers, Bourbon, and ESO...one of those will eventually kill me.

Thats the thing with VR content, its where you find out what works and what doesn't.

Sadly a lot of players do not understand this and still run poorly designed builds in dungeons, instead of assisting the party to farm the dungeons smoothly, they become dead weight.

Try searching for good builds on the fansite forums, there are quite a number of good VR DPS builds both AoE and Single Target wise. I am primarily a tank too as well as a healer and DPS, you will have enough skill points to do all 3 roles, trust me. I even have 3 crafts and this is before i hit VR10. Just make sure you research and plan properly.

I know TESO allows freedom of mixing and matching your skills and choosing your builds but lets be honest and face the fact, NOT all builds are effective and there exist only a small number of cookie cutter OPTIMAL builds. Yea, you may do just fine with your own "custom-made, what you feel is cool" build but seriously no point in handicapping yourself and handicapping your party members by sticking to those inefficient builds.

OP here, I am a DK, in full heavy. My Health regen is already overcharged. I have all available skills and passive with points to spare.

I know two builds that work , vamp drain and Bat ult. OR pop all defense/armor abilities and shield bash. both lame. and shield dmg will prob be nerfed soon.

I am really not crying here. I have adapted. Mostly when i die it was because of a healer mob with 2-3 melees. Buy the time you block power attacks from 3 diff. mobs your stam is gone. then you die.

The real point of my thread is that besides these builds. why is the game designed where my stats dont effect crit or weapon dmg. seems a lame way to make a mmo

op again, sorry current build is

    S&B with shielded assault/ransack(taunt)/burning embers/choking talons/Green dragon blood

two hand with . 2h Charge thing/flame breath/burning embers/ch talons/razor armor. (been having to switch razor armor for immovable or petrify lately to stay alive.)

armor is overcharged, health regen is over charged, all available passives in class, race, weapon lines. mix of stam and mag. enhants. also using ashen grip, and deathwind 3 pc bonuses.

Very strange indeed. In fact, it is so strange that I am wondering if you have been paying attention. I have found a significant difference between the level 50 mobs in Coldharbour and Cyrodiil and the VR1 mobs in the first VR zone. The VR1 mobs hit harder and take less damage. Battle a pack of two level 50 mobs in Cyrodiil, such as outside any cave. Then compare that experience to a fight with a pack of two VR1 mobs. You will notice a difference even though there should be none. There is no difference between level 50 and VR1 crafted gear; but the enemies of the two levels are anything but equal.

Yeah, tried just that, and now I do see it. 3 or 4 shots with my bow coming out of stealth and a Cyrodiil mob goes down. VR1 mobs takes about 6 or 7 hits.

Maybe didn't notice because of CC "knockback" shot with nightblades...and always having plus-stamina from food.

Still don't think it's THAT hard. But like I said, maybe it ramps up too much at VR5+. tbd

I do okay at VR4 as long as I study the mob group looking for type (healer, archer, etc) and initiate combat with buffs/knockdown/etc all planned out.

1 or 2 mobs I used my single target bar. 3 or more I swap weapons and set up for some AoE (I sometimes call it Pray for crits-o-E).

But if I round a corner and stumble into aggroing a 3 mob set I usually die. They hit my 7/7 cloth hard enough that there is no time to get snares and defensives up before death. And while snaring pure melee works, giving a couple archers or knife throwers more than a few uninterupted seconds hurts pretty bad. Not locking down a healer does not end well either.

I get killed several times a day now solo questing. Most of the time that is because I made a mistake or ran into a new mob type. Also, I try to solo about everything so sometimes I deserve to get spanked. Like "wtf was I thinking that crossbones had 3 12k caster mobs!" and I tried it anyway. Because sometimes I actually pull it off.

Some people say VR is easy, but not for me. Oddly enough I do not mind the difficulty because it keeps me from burning out on so much questing for so many levels.

There are few ways to increase dmg. 1st of all, stop worrying about health regen, its useless when you have green dragon blood.

If you full on heavy armor, consider enchanting some of it with stamina, yes stamina indeed increase dmg of your weapon attacks and allows you to use weapon skills more. Apart from that, you can enchant your jewelery with increase to weapon damage. You dont really need crit, but if you are that desperate to get your 5%, activate Thief mundus stone

Use CC, especially since you are a DK, not using Broken Talons is a crime

Strategize. Look at the pack you engage, determine who is most dangerous (healer/fire mage), CC the group so you get few sec when melee cant reach you. Get off sneak attack with your 2h on that damn mage, its a good start. Make sure you block them heavy attacks

Consider using Brawler morph for your Cleave, it helps me alot when I engage packs.

to summerize , play the prescribed way from now on and become a light armour wearing impulse spammer. use only precise traits on weapons. use only infused on armour. regardless whether this is what you want to do . welcome to world of magecraft.

VR5 is a joke. I cleared the whole zone as a V2. THis incluses soloing all bosses except two what were teamed up with people passing by. Even soloed three of the skull crossbow spots with binding and curse. And I did all of this naked.

But then I went into VR3, and those mobs were harder. Those mobs would be arches with healer teamed up often. Or they would root bind me.

I am waiting for harder mobs, yes please. I was told dungeons don't get harder then V5 mobs. That level put me to sleep, need harder. Where are they?

Open your eyes, maybe respec stats.. look for better gear..

I found this game to easy, altough leveling in Veteran can be a pain..
Just try Veteran dungeons to level up
