Will ESO cut their losses?

I wonder, with all the people not subscribing monthly after buying the game, if it might be a good idea for ESO to cancel the monthly fee and cut their losses. They would probably make more money. The 'no fee' would definitely generate more game sells.

It takes time to convert the game.... eventually sure but what do they do first? Fix the exploits bugs, make it F2P, add content?

Oh look, another free to play thread. Where are you getting the idea that people are not subscribing after buying the game? [snip]

So what if it would go f2p now. Maybe there would be few more game copies sold, there is none micro transactions in place that would further increase revenue (except the horse).

Maybe Craglorn would come since it's practically done already. Then nothing as I'm sure the coders, level designers, graphicians etc will not work for free.

Can any MOD confirm that only subscribers can post? [snip]

    Quite the opposite!

Have you got a subscription setup or not?

Sure do. Doesn't mean I have money on that card though. And since I have no overdraft fees with my bank I don't worry when they try to bill it. Also, Best Buy sells game cards. You don't need to give ESO your visa or mastercard info. Thats what they want.

Its been forever since i cared enough to look into the various business models MMO makers have to choose from, but i want to say that usually a MMO will break even fairly early on in terms of recouping startup costs. And i know from personal experience that a MMO doesn't have to have ridiculously high sub numbers to stay viable for years.

Putting what i know with with i guess, i'd hazard a 'not anytime soon' to your question. Furthermore, i really don't care if they close the servers tomorrow-i'm gonna enjoy TESO as long as i can. And that is the most important thing, again, imo-not ruminating on the when/if ZOS does what i would personally do and say 'screw it, you perpetually unhappy ***. We're out!' the first chance they get.

They sent me an invitation directly from ESO. If ESO only listened to hardcore ESO fans that wouldn't be smart.

    I am a paying customer. I spent $50.

Remember all those posts a week or so ago telling us how glorious the forums would be when the first month was up.

Remember me telling people nothing will change.

As The Hives once said .... I hate to say I told you so.

You idea is predicated on something you have no idea about so it seems pointless to consider it.

It amazes me that people think that a game will fail if people stop subbing after the first month. If you were running a MMO business, don't you think a company would plan or make averages on what kind of attrition they will have after a month? Or even 2 months? Maybe they would look at the kind of subs people are subscribing for and able to make the best averages they can to determine if they will be making money or not? Hell even my guild figures out how many people we probably lose after the first month of a game to make sure we have our numbers filled.

You're broke and you want to play for free when your 30 days is up. I get it...

Now add a $monthlysub$, stick around for a few months and find out.
