Heyo! I could not find a forum for player suggestions (HINT-HINT) and since this pertains to a new Faction I'll slap it in here as well as a few other places to see how it fares.
Now, I know there is plans to add in the Kiosks to the game, but, other then that there has been little to no details. I'm not upset at this but rather the opposite, I want this game to be something I know it has the potential to be and what I would love to see within it. Since the Elder Scrolls game have always had a Mercantile skill of some kind, I found it to be a missing element here and thus I have been in thought while playing.
The best way to implement a form of mercantile into a game like an MMO seems straight forward, add a public auction house. But, That just seems...ordinary. Thus I have came up with a basic idea of what I think the Kiosks would entail when it launches and tried to capitalize upon it.
- Opening a new area within the hub cities (Elden Root/etc) that house a total of 10 merchant kiosks (30 in total), These kiosks could then be rented out by guilds To make the wares of their guild stores available to the general public.
-The Merchant kiosks would work similar to player housing in other MMOs, with an initial fee of purchase (20,000g). Plus adding the ability for the guild leader to customize what items can/cannot be put into the guild store. For a sense of identity. Would they create an alchemy store for potions, or be primarily dedicated to profession trade materials?
- The Merchant kiosk would require a monthly rental fee for the guild to maintain ownership of it. The kiosk would accumulated a 10% fee from every item that would be purchased from it, This fee would then be deposited into the guild bank in order for the guild to cover it's rental fee. Thus the guild supplies the public with what they want, they make the money to stay open and more.
- The guild who own the kiosk would be required to pay a monthly fee (5,000g) otherwise be served a eviction notice of three days to make up payment. If no payment is made within three days then the guild looses it's right to own the stall and it is reopened to the public for another guild to purchase.
- Merchant kiosks would be customizable, from the kiosk itself to the merchant NPC who stands behind the counter. Therefor if the guild who own the stall become popular enough and make more gold then the required rental fee they can spend to customize the kiosk, making it look more appealing and adding a sense of ownership and bringing in more sales.
- This idea could also be a way to implement a new faction within the game, The Merchant's Guild! Another fun little faction. With it's own set of skills that would help boost the economy, such ideas as:
The player gains experience for the faction based on the value of items sold within the guild store kiosk.
1. Silver Tongue: PASSIVE (2 ranks): You can now sell items to merchants for 10/20% more. (requires lv02[rank1] and lv05[rank2])
2. Negotiator: PASSIVE (2 ranks): You can now buy items from merchants for 10/20% less. (requires lv02[rank1] andlv05[rank2])
3. Golden Touch: PASSIVE (2 ranks): You can now loot 50/100% more gold from enemies. (requires lv07[rank1] and lv10[rank2])
4. Deep Pockets: PASSIVE (2 ranks): Gold rewarded for quest completion is increased by 15/30%. (requires lv07[r1] and lv10[r2]
*NOTE: That these passives would be reduced by 75% if the guild no longer own a merchant kiosk, (much like the Emperorship) and these passives would not stack if the player is in multiple guilds that own merchant kiosks.
- This faction: The Merchant's Guild! would be something similar to The Undaunted faction, but with the economy. essentially an auction house that everyone has been asking for, but, one that would be in the hands of the players and not just some random NPCs.
The cost of the Kiosk would naturally be high, I mean if you're going to invest in a business then it's risky. That and We need to keep those damn gold farmers away. If you liked these ideas, support it, Maybe something well come of it. Who knows. If you find flaws in an idea then improve on it. It's your game too!
-Thank you for your time.
