Destro + Resto is reason for all the OP cries

Destro staff is the best weapon skill line both dps wise, aoe wise and pvp wise. Hands down. Combined with Resto staff (and quick siphon bug giving 100% more healing) it is even more superior to ANY other weapon setup. Except from the OP sorc ability bolt escape, this is also the main reason why many call sorc and dk much stronger then the rest. Because they often use this weapon combo, while nightblades and templars tend to use other weapon types that are inferior to Destro + Resto (melee or bow sorcerors and dks are rare compared to destro/resto ones).
If you take into account all the buggy NB passives getting fixed soon, nightblades are no doubt the most underrated class out there because of bugs and many people with bad 2h, bow and dual-wield stamina builds fighting against destro/resto builds and saying it's something "wrong" with their class.

Destro + resto makes ANY class powerful, sadly almost no NBs or Templars use this combo, which is OP when used correctly by any class.

They need to balance mainly destro staff to be more in line with the other skill lines, because right now destro + resto combo > everything else.

I've seen VR 10 templars and NBs FACEROLL with destro/resto combo, but you almost NEVER see these classes run this comp, as they tend to move more towards 2H, bow and dual-wield which is weak in comparison. If we did, you would realise that destro + resto is the biggest problem right now (except from bolt escape, and buggy nightblade abilities), not the actual class differences on its own.

Any class can be vampire and have the best PvP/DPS/Defense abilities/ultimates in the game. But combining it with Destro + Resto is OP. That is the main problem.

Edit:

Here's a link to my very recent Templar destro/resto build that is beast in both group healing/support and offensive burst single target/AoE all at once, in all kinds of PVP (solo, large scale, small scale) and PVE:

"THE one and only Templar build that does everything, and kills anyone in 6 seconds guaranteed"

Templar dispels + backlash lets me faceroll VR 10 DKs and Sorcerors (that doesn't use escape bolt) with this destro/resto build, even if the enemy uses destro/resto as well.
Templar dispels gimp their damage A LOT and Backlash force them into defensive mode with the insane burst, before they die (they always do) :)

Nah , because you would still die.

It is the fact you can usually combo this with the absurd survivability that any DK got that makes it ridiculous.

A DK could be freaking naked and it would still take forever to die , so light armor means nothing to it , that allows them to have tons of mana 0 drawback , add that to the staffs , you have the reason they can solo half the stuff is meant for groups.

Wee! Another offhanded comment about bolt escape being soooooooo OP. Sounds like that thing is a killer "I win" button. Ima gonna go solo a group dungeon with it!

Hey! How come I can't kill the first mob? Why doesn't he just roll over and die thanks to my clearly superior skill at running away from him? :anguished:

What are you talking about? Im talking pvp not pve. I have a VR 10 dk, and i know what you are saying is NOT possible in pvp. If anything in pvp is faceroll its Sorcerors blinking around target while they kill them without being touched. Have you even PLAYED a dk at vr ranks before mindlessly commenting? Its not as great as you think if you dont use destro + resto and also are skilled.

Stop saying stuff you have no clue about. Destro + resto is the main problem, because those two weps together makes an imba combination and elemental drain, quick siphon (bugged) and pulsar spam is very good atm.

By what you are saying they should nerf nightblades because they can currently stealthtank and solo dungeons then. Or just spam stealth. Doesnt mean they can stealthtank in pvp..

ANY CLASS CAN BE VAMPIRE AND HAVE THE BEST DPS/DEFENSE SURVIVAL IN THE GAME. BUT COMBINING IT WITH DESTRO/RESTO IS OP. That is the main problem.

Easy fix: remove all the area damage skills or reduce about 75% its damage.

I hate the unskilled area skills for noobs that are ruining this pvp.

How about: Fix the bug with quick siphon.

Na, let's knee jerk react prior to fixing bugs so we need more changes when the bug is corrected.

This is about destro + resto staff giving amazing synergy atm, and its superior to any other weapon combo in the game for everything. BY FAR.

Players are combining destro staff with resto, and the quick siphon bug which gives 100% more self healing..It's OP.

How? I use both, mainly resto. I am a nightblade. I am certainly not barreling through content in any way shape or form.

So, people are abusing a bug and that makes Destro/Resto staff overpowered?

Exactly. Nightblades just squeak through vr quests hoping to earn enough gold to respec again.

Nightblade here barreling through VR zones with destro/resto staff. I feel stronger than my VR dragonknight with same weapons. I honestly think the people having issues with nightblades are trying to run medium armor/stamina builds which are just sucky or they're just bad at the game or they just want to whine. .

Pretty much this. Nightblades are very underrated. Main problem is that passives are buggy, once that gets fixed NB's will be way stronger than people realise.

I have nightblade VR 10 guldies that are amazing in both PvE and PvP, because they have good builds, but the bugs to passives hurt them a bit. Many nigthblades just run around spamming stamina abilities like bow, and of course they will be bad then.
Same with templars, they have a lot of unique and extremely strong key abilities too that far too few templars take advantage of sadly :/ The good templars out there that took the time to plan a solid build are very strong in both killing enemies and being MASSIVE support to their group that would not be replaceable by any other class.

It's all about making a viable build, but sadly resto + destro is extremely easy to make strong, and right now almost any resto + destro build will be good combined with any class (unless you dont have a slightest clue).

The OP'ness of escape bolt combined with destro + resto is another story though..

I was level 48 and facerolled a sorcerer of veteran rank 10 with a staff in Cyrodiil. I was using a bow nightblade.

So no they are not over powered, just people don't know how to play.

Ok, so if I am a V10 templar and want to go down destro/resto staff line, what armor would I be going for? 5 light 2 heavy?

7 light, IMO. The bonuses for using those last 2 pieces of light armor are way better than the bonuses you get for having 2 heavy pieces (even factoring in the extra armor you get).

But that's for VR10. While leveling I recommend 5 light, 1 heavy, 1 medium and try to get training trait on the medium/heavy pieces. If you do that you'll hit 50 medium and heavy armor at around VR5 or so.

Thank you sir for taking the time to post such detailed information on Templar Destro / Resto build. I'm VR6 at the moment. Thanks to Zenimax shattering sword and board build and biting jabs, I'll be building a destro / resto build based off your recommendations.

If you have a moment to indulge me, I do have a couple of lingering questions.

With respect to weapons, do you have a preference for Frost, Fire or Lightning and any preferred trait. i.e. sharpened etc

Would you have a recommendation on weapon glyph? i.e. Elemental or Crushing

The timing and my relief in finding your post could not be overstated. This last patch was brutal and I'm happy to find options to give me hope of reaching VR10.

Significantly enough in fact that we are supposed to get a skill point refund on it if we spent points in it. Haven't gotten mine, though I only had one point invested.
