Losing the Emperorship

p.s. i had a BLAST being emperor, and STRONGLY suggest to the devs that they look at having a campaign in the future where the rules allow for a player to be crowned emperor only once during that campaign term - they retain their leaderboard ranking and AP etc, but the next time the throne is claimed by their alliance, the next person in line who hasn't worn the throne yet, is crowned - let's have more folks who worked hard for it have a chance to enjoy the fun also

my many and humble thanks to everybody in zone who helped, and not just The Noore - it's an alliance wide effort

I would like to add that I think it should allow the current Emperor to be able to be crowned more than once for up to 24 hours at least so that they get a chance to experience it for at least a part of the day if the keeps are taken back quickly.

edit: The more I think about it though I would be afraid of non-stop Emperor swapping then. Not sure I like that idea.

yup - my proposal could be exploited also

an alternative would be to have 'private' campaigns where some of the 'honorable' guilds could duke it out - but that also brings with it a whole slew of problems and potential abuses - wishful thinking - but i'll never stop it

i think you'd need to read several of the SC related threads to get it, and tbh if you haven't i wouldn't recommend them other than for amusement purposes

i think it depends

on some campaigns one alliance will take all the throne keeps, crown a new emperor, and then go guest elsewhere until all the keeps are retaken a few hours later - not defend a single thing - rinse and repeat - an exploit in many people's books

on the campaign that I am in one of our guildies was crowned emperor and held onto the crown for 12 days before being dethroned - we fought tooth and nail at the last keep with EP on one side of the outer walls pounding the inner postern and DC on the outer walls on the other side of the same keep pounding the other postern

when we retook the keeps he abdicated to allow the next person, in this case me, to be crowned - i retained the throne for 15 days before losing it - hardly 'emperor trading'

Emperorship should be given through heroic acts and leet playing, not an accumulation of alliance points.

heroic acts and leet playing AND dedication to a campaign will by default accumulate alliance points

unfortunately accumulation of alliance points through more questionable methods is rampant in some campaigns as well

balancing this is a task that i don't envy the devs who might be looking at a solution to it

I hear the cyrodiil zone spam all the time "Gank squad forming up, get XXXXX Ap an hour".

I have yet to see an emperor who really wrecked the enemy and dominated the map.

I don't get what the problem of the guy writing that letter is. You had a bad experience as Emperor and...? You insult ZOS? It's like you hold them responsible for every unpleasant situation you had to deal with. And you say you won't compete anymore like you are trying to spite them. Why should they care? What is the logic behind that letter? Is there some context that puts this in perspective or I just read a random banter with no reasonable thought?

Would be a great idea having the next one in line becoming the next emperor, but the one before of course keeping his points, would be a more fair system or something. per campaign that is

I think the Emperor idea is bad in general, but ESO's version is better than what Aion had with their General system.

In Aion you were scared to PvP as a General because you were huge points to kill and you lost tons of points for points for dying. A lot of the generals that I saw got the title and felt like they had to hide in PvE. Not to mention when generals used their abilities in Aion it was much more devastating.

erm - it was humor - the letter wasn't addressed to ZOS or the DEVS, it was addressed to the Elders of the Council of the Empire

that i enjoyed my time as emperor should be self evident if you read the comments in THAT post DIRECTLY BELOW the letter

I think having the next person in line to be emperor that hasn't been emperor is a realistic idea and agree that it would be a good thing put into the campaigns. I also think that if they keep these campaigns as long as there are, and in their current state, that emperorship should only last maybe 7 days tops then pass down to the next highest on your side.

agreed - i think a week is more than a reasonable amount of time for one person to enjoy the crown - though it has it's pros and cons as any suggestion we put forward
