Generic Vetern level advice

Ok, so finally we are at the point where skill actually has to come into play for a run. Up until recently it was just bum rush the mobs, heal and take home the loot. Sadly, built up a lot of bad habits :( . Last night we tried Fungal Grotto, with VR1 NB, Temp Healer, Sorc and a VR5 DPS DK.

Trash runs, pretty much as expected, nothing to mention here. First boss, a few wipes to learn the mechanics, again, a good win. Second boss, life changed for the worse. As VR1s we were definitely under leveled (mobs were VR1 to VR5 IIRC) and by that, also under geared. We can live with that, but our game play needs refinement.

So, we have figured out that traditional agro does not exist. Seems a few taunts, and more CC are TESOs way of trying to hold the mobs. Not really looking for specific fight mechanics here but more info in general on how people are a running the 4 mans. Coming from my last MMO (LOTRO) where obviously things are done differently.

How are your tank types (what class they are) grabbing the mobs? As the healer I can tank anything, just hold up my healing staff and the mobs rush to me not matter what the other 3 do :) On the other hand my life expectancy is usually short at that point in light armor. Any points as to the better heal skills to bring would be welcome, I think my heals are good at this point. Deaths are due more to mismanagement of the tactics. We are looking at Armor sets/traits/glyphs. At this point it is a little more important to start squeezing more out of them than just slapping them together.

We had a blast, finally a run that challenged us a bit with a repair bill to prove it. Looking forward to more.

I would suggest trying to complete Spindleclutch before Fungal. And sneak past the second boss in Spindle as well. It is much easier than Fungal.

I play tank and DPS. I am a heavy armor sorc with a two hander. I use shattering prison to cc large mobs which is the best way to "tank" mobs. For boss I usually use Inner Rage to taunt but most bosses have random charge mechanics so taunts aren't always needed.

vet content (played the first 3 instances multiple times as vet5 healer or dps) instances are basically:

    - trash needs to be CC as much as possible
    - AoE nuke them down, no tank needed
    - don´t stay in anything red on the ground or you get 1hit or 2hit
    - if you have a temp tell him to use eclipse on ranged caster, it will SO MUCH reduce dmg for the group

    for bosses
    - learn mechanics as good as possible
    - single target nuke them down as fast as possible
    - stay out of anything red on the ground (except for gargoyle)
    - have a NB that can exploit every boss by perma stunning them with hide

for spindle gargoyle you just need a good healer. I did it with only vet1 fresh guys once. but there is one rule. ALWAYS stay on the boss. no matter how much damage you get you don´t stop dps like a crazy person. the healer can heal it you win, if it can´t be healed or dps is to low, you lose and skip the boss.

don´t know.. one of the vet10 tanks that I had for spindle could stun the boss so that he did not abillity by going invis every 2-3 seconds. boss didn´t move at all. he said it works for almost every boss .. its a bug

Sound advice suggesting they use a bug to get through dungeons as opposed to playing the game properly...You are telling them to use a known exploit to advance in the game which is against the TOS if they were to do it, and they could get their accounts suspended because of it.

Instead, I suggest practice. Go into Fungle Grotto with the intention of practicing your builds and mechanics rather than with the intention to beat the boss. If you are in this mindset, you won't be disappointed when you leave the dungeon having not defeated the boss.

Work together and talk through the fights. Hop into a vent, or razer comms and have someone shouting out mechanics. (ex: "Shackles on Bob", "Adds are up", "Stack on Dave", etc) Announce tasks for people before the fights. For example the second boss of FG, when she spawns 4 shadows to attack you don't have 3 people run in to CC them. Its a waste of magicka. Instead have one person assigned for CC during that fight. For her shackles, make a plan to always attack the same target. You can either pick that target based on geographical location or based on whatever target you see the tank charge to.

After you learn the mechanics and your team is working like a well oiled machine, you might even take down the boss on accident during your practice!

With every new boss there is a learning curve. it might be a really small curve with only 1 or 2 wipes, or it might be a huge curve with 70. Just remember to have fun and enjoy the time you are spending playing with your friends.

We are discussing this exact question (how aggro works in ESO) in another thread you might be interested in perusing: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/94928/can-we-talk-about-aggro-tanking

Life of a Nightblade (Screenshot Tumblr)

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

melee DPS maybe. Ranged dps has no need to stand in the circle until the very end.
