Volcanic Ruin is a god send for NB AOE builds! Also what is gear enchants as I think your attributes could be better distributed as I have 49 in health and still reach Magika soft cap (don't use any stamina abilitys) but as your main damage dealer is a stamina ability and only use Magika as an opening sequence you could drop some more into it

rune is the god send skill for every aoe build... and I'd like to say that 90% of those that found too hard to clear veteran content had never used this skill... it really should be nerfed... and I'm saing this as someone that have never removed the skill from his bar since unlocked the morph... I use it as a dps... as a tank... as ana healer... every build I make have a spot left for this skill... i'll propbably slot it even in a single target only build (well maybe not.. but that's probably the only build I will do without it ^^')
not being a magika focuse char is not a problem... the stenght of the skill is not its damage (that still is not something that should be totally ingored since the skill itself have a good coefficent... ) but the 4 sec AoE CC really makes every other skill shine... since spamming AoE when you don't have to worry about getting hit in the meanwhile or getting to much aggro and being oneshotted... really is heaven on earth!!!!
PS: once again this is the demostation that most people that find one class subpar to other is because they see their calss skill alone... but actualy most of the player that have little to no problem in veteran content hardly use more than one or class skill while their main CC, damage and survival skill comes from guild/weapon abilities ^^'
so u focused more HP/Magicka > Stamina, so is the base stamina enough for this build?
edit: ah i see, u was the one without using stamina ;D
Thx :>
Can u also post your build? Seems also effective with destrostaff and dw.
Would be nice

You of course realize that Volcanic Ruin is a Mage-guild skill and not an NB skill. The NB class itself without being a Vampire (or using other skills from Fighters or Mage-guild) can not even pull a dead Herring from a wet plate.
Just saying....
All successful builds I have seen are Magicka builds with Vampire and Guild skills. I have as yet to see a successful Veteran build with only the skills that are available to the Nightblade as a class.
Just saying....

Very viable build...specially for those that want to stay DW. And not have to have a specific weapon type to be viable. This build could work with going 5light/2med. You could switch your Ult. to Veil of Blades for the added dps and dps loss from Stam usage on Steel Tornado.
Going 5light could benefit in the magika regen area...love the build, might have to try it...
I do something pretty similar for AE with DW. I felt that Lotus Fan was a little underwhelming. As a vampire I switched it out with drain essence. So you can start with a volcanic rune or two to start, then do your rotation with hitting light attacks betweeen the whirlwind. When out of resources turn to one of the mobs and drain essence which will usually give you enough stamina to finish off the pack. The whirlwind is going to be a lot stronger at the end of the fight than the beginning anyway.
That man talks some sense about NB here! Heretics!!111Igntis_Delian wrote: »Many people complain that Nightblades, especially combined with Dual Wield, or not capable for decent AOE.
Using this build you will prove that they are wrong. In addition, you'll have a lot of fun. Either taking out packs of 3-4 Solo in PvE (veteran content) or in Dungeons, this AOE-Build rocks.
Skills - Rotation:
Activate Siphoning Attacks and keep doing Light Attacks when executing the damage rotation. It will grant you additional magica/stam for even more AOE
Volcanic Rune - your initial skill. place the rune before combat starts and try to hit as many targets as possible. The detonation has a decent range, even targets who are not affected in first place will be knocked in the air. Scalding Rune Morph might increase the damage even more, but I prefer the CC from Volcanic Rune. Which will also prevent you from being CCed (DPS loss)
Jump in with Lotus Fan right after placing the Rune. Both effects will kick in at the same and will give a OMG moment every time you use this combo.
- Use Power Extraction while the mobs are still in the air.
- Dump your entire Stamina with Steel Tornado and watch the mobs dying (If you have managed to drain 5 or more targets, you will see 1000+ crits, VR5+)
With a good amount of magica left you can now switch to your single dps bar and finish the leftovers or start the rotation again. Thanks to Siphoning Attacks and a Stamina Potion you are a prepared for a second round.
For the Abillity points i use 24-10-15
5 pieces of medium and 2 pieces of light armour.
