NA Wabbajack Dominion Scroll carrier: hack or bug?

AD player Cap t America was carrying their Scroll. We set up an ambush and he ran to the water then suicided.... then he respawned at keep STILL CARRYING THE SCROLL. He bypassed our entire defense and just walked it from Elsweyr Gate to their Temple.
Don't know if this it a bug or a hack. Has anyone else run into this?
I'm a man of few words. Any questions?

It was a hack. We had him cornered he suicided in water and re-appered at his own Gate camp. I have the SS of the Scroll in the camp. May have taken it a bit late but pretty sure we have it on video.

Definitely some form of hack where you suicide but keep the scroll and end up at the main camp.

This is not a hack but a known exploit. If the scroll carrier dies in water, the scroll will reset to the spawn wayshrine of the last carrier. I'm not even sure it's a banable thing.

Sure it is if its an exploit. Knowing of a bug and using it to produce a result that is unintended has been bannable in MMO's forever.

This picture doesn't really prove anything though.

Cap T America knew what he/she was doing when they suicided in the water with the scroll. Using an exploit has always been a bannable offense in MMOs and we have videos and screenshots of the incident. Hopefully they will fix this exploit soon as this is a game changer.

Yeah I tried my best with the SS. In the time from teleporting from the river to the main camp, my shock lasted about 5 seconds as I was saying WTF and then as you can see I was a bit late with the SS.

But honestly who takes the scroll up to the door of your main camp when your Temple would have been closer and you were safe behind a closed gate?

SS says enough if you think logically.

Closed Gate + Scroll = Temple (not the main camp) in terms of where people would travel with it.

In this case it looks like people could be correct in the exploit thoughts. But with that said, I could screenshot chat pretty much nightly with someone calling the other realm hackers or exploiters. It gets thrown around anytime someone doesn't understand something and their brain jumps to "hack/exploit".

It could very well be a bug.

In other words unless there is physical proof presented that the exploit was done by an individual the hopes of getting the person banned by merely conjecture is unlikely.

Doesn't mean it can't happen. Just that it's unlikely.

No chance it was a bug.

We stopped the AD on the bridge S of Drakelowe. If a PUG didn't pick it up and lose it to them we would have carried it safely home.

The AD that picked it up ran up the river between bridges and died, passing it off to one of their people. This person then died and teleported to the main camp. Once they got to the Temple with the Scroll the person who exploited died probably because he could not cap it and another person picked it up and capped it.

    100% an exploit.

I will never cry wolf, and personally I don't even care that they got the scroll. I just HATE hackers/exploiters who spoil the fun for everyone.

The guy didn't steal it fair and square. He ran into the water, died, and respawned at Elsweyr Gate carrying it. That is a bug, a hack, or an exploit.
So by your logic, we're not allowed to report bugs, hacks or exploits if we're winning on the server? That makes no sense.

Don't you know, if you are winning you have to let the other side cheat so they feel better about themselves.

lol.. I am entitled to cheat if you are beating me... I am absolutely amazed at this rationale. I guess it is true that people will justify anything and everything if it is something they wish to do.

I have the video of it. Starts, fittingly enough with me dead after trying to protect the PUG who decided to pick up the scroll and run it into the AD group we had just taken it from. :)

No, we're reporting something that's either a bug, hack, or exploit. When you die, you're supposed to drop the Scroll, not respawn still carrying it. There have been several instances of this happening, so we're reporting it both in bug reports and on the forums.
There's a difference between "being up in arms" and reporting a problem in the game's programming.

The implications of this, sadly, it that stuff like this, gives AD a bad name. AD is quickly being stereotyped as "cheaters" as a whole.
If I am going to quote someone, it's going to be me.
  • XILoKoIX

Yes, because of one scroll capping incident, we're all definitely cheaters.

Nevermind the 3:1 ratio that EP has, AD are the unfair ones!
  • Zintair

We do not think AD are cheaters. We do not care about who used the Batswarm exploit. All we want to do is report a bug and very probably exploit. It is one person and hardly defines a campaign where it can happen to anyone.

Irrelevant. If someone is exploiting a known bug, they should be banned. Simple as that.

Don't exploit, people. It's pretty obvious when you do something you definitely shouldn't be able to.

Definitely should. Anyone who exploits knowingly should be banned; you can try ignorance all day, but everyone who abuses bugs like that know precisely what they are doing..
