I just want to be a monk, using no weapons but my fists. And maybe using all the armor skill lines. What other skills and abilities can I use to maximise my potential/survivability with such a class?
You should have cool acrobatics like the monks in the D&D manuals. They could like slip about enemies and weave in and out of them both 3.5 and 4.0 manuals they had tons of acrobatics and such.
I really do not like the notion that everything should copy dnd. Dnd is pale lifeless shadow when compared to what it copied from, the hobbit, mabinogion, etc. i do like the old acrobatics and athletics skill from morrowind, however.

I have Khajiti build that my intent was to be monk like. NB, all class skills except two from bow for distance attack to draw in the prey. Wish we would use staffs for melee attack. A NB with a melee staff would be a great monk.
TBH I think ESO has a great start to a good game, and i agree they really need to come up with a class that is specialised in H2H combat as well as some type of mystic, and maybe a good necromancy build, then we would start to see a ton of different specs.
