An Immodest Proposal, New Skimpy Gear.

socomhdsb16_ESO
ESO is a fantasy game. No, fantasy does not automatically equal to half naked women, despite what Google image search and 95% of Skyrim armor mods may say, but it does mean a world that caters to the player's desires and wishes. Skimpy armor can play into that a number of ways. It can be as simple as liking to see skin because of tattoos purposes, as innocent as thinking a barbaric berserker should be wearing a loincloth, or complex as desire to feel sexually powerful and appealing in an environment where dressing like that doesn't have the same social or practical consequences it does in real life, just the same as beating a guy's face in with a hammer doesn't have any of the same consequences in Cyrodill as it would on the street. Say that a person wanting to feel sexually potent in a game needs psychological help if you want, but I don't see many players calling for the average PvPer to check into anger management seminars.

More skimpy gear isn't fair to those of us who don't like it.

And the severe lack of skimpy gear isn't fair to those of us who do like it.

But there's already a ton of skimpy armor in the game!
That is defiantly not true at all, even the barbaric fashion does not yield any except for the light armor top. Of course, if you're a male, that number goes down dramatically. What is the point of tattoos if you can't show it off? Khal Drogo would be disappointed!

If its gender equal then I don't see why its a problem.

The bottom line here is that some players like to wear revealing gear for whatever our personal reasons may be. There isn't a whole lot of it to choose from right now,
Those who don't like it, well you can just not wear it and deal with people wearing them.
If you want 100% immersion, well you won't get it in an MMO so I suggest you fire up Skyrim and play. Even then, you'll still see skimpy armor in Skyrim.
And odds are they'll be happier in the long run too because more options will mean the current ones get use less and become less obtrusive.

Only if skimpy armor gives even less armor than light armor

Would really have loved to see something closer to the Vanir in Conan for the Nords instead of the full body suits we got.

Currently I think Stygian set is the skimpiest, that's higher than level 10 or whatever the Bosmer chest is. Not sure if there's a vet version and I don't think there's a way to craft in its style either.

The third link is actually a Skyrim concept, so it's well within the realm of what we could've had.

I have so far been using the Sea Drake (Seadrake?) "Disguise" on most of my characters.

I like it, compared to the race armors and other "Disguises", and toss the rest.

I like seeing my DK (Imperial Heavy with "Death's Wind" and "Fiery Breath" sets that have no difference from "plain" Imperial design) and my sorceress's (Breton / not a bad robe and a High elf that I just do not like the design) in that "Disguise".

I will say that I actually do not use the "Disguise" on either my Dark nor Wood Elves, both Nightblades, as I do, so far, like their armors. :)

I could see some of the "Skimpy" being more disguises that I am always left wondering, so far; "How the heck do they git into that?" :open_mouth:

It is not that I necessarily want skimpy, but a better choice of some design, besides all the different race styles that can be less than "flattering".

A little "flair" is not a bad thing.
Not all knights, sorceress', and others were, nor are, dressed the same without any 'special' touches that set them apart showing a personal touch.

Crests come to mind of the medieval an other times, from the ancient past to the present, there is a desire by many to set themselves apart from one another. There are many different reasons: Personal honor (Lord, Baron, King, etc.), rank, ego, a little better standard of living, different crafters of the same areas, and other areas both, with their own methods creating a variance in style, craftsmanship, functionality...

When weapons were created better, and with more innovation, blacksmiths and armorers would actually have certificates as to the efficiency of their wares against these weapons ...

The same, of course, covers weapons of all sorts as well...

The amazing variance of these designs within a single country were vast, and some of the most amazing works of beauty to behold.

    TL/DR:
More Variance, Disguises, Skimpy (or not as it is Fantasy), and More Difference Within the Race Motifs allowed either by the crafter's knowledge or just in general.

any kind of cosmetic option is welcomed by me, having just the option for one predesigned disguise is boring. at the very least give us the option to hide any or all of our armor instead of just the head pc.

I really like the armor design in ESO so far, I think way too many games take the skimpy armor too far. I don't personally care for skimpy gear on my females however I'm also not against it being added to the game as long as I don't have to wear it lol. Maybe a disguise or something when they add a transmorg option
. I've always hated in fantasy games when the same set of gear looks absolutely badass on a male and then my female character has nothing more than a plate bra and panties. It's so annoying wanting a strong looking female character and getting nothing but armor that covers a very small amount of skin. So as long as each style is optional, thats fine by me.

As an acctual female I am not crazy about female characters looking like they belong on a street corner somewhere. However, if the same applies on male characters I am game.

    Exactly this right here.
While I do not want my characters to wear skimpy armor, I support your request even though I wouldn't really use any skimpy set. There is a bunch of things that I want to be added to the game, so I know how it feels to not being able to make your character looks exactly like you want.
IF every skimpy set added is skimpy for both genders and also fit the established lore, sure, why not.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.
