Another busted skill - NB Dark Cloak

This ability doesn't work most of the time. A lot of DoT abilities are just not removed, including all bleeds.

The text states removed 1 Damage over time effect. Bleeds are DoT and it doesn't do remove it.

It seems that a lot of abilities don't show up as a debuff or damage according to "C" or FTC add-on and if they don't then Dark Cloak doesn't remove it.

    I really wish the devs would seriously fix how broken and bugged Nightblade abilities are. Last night I dumped two skill points into the passive magicka flood only to find out it did not work. So now I have two wasted skill points that I could have put into crafting until there is a fix. Nightblades should temporarily get free re-specializations considering we have so many bugged abilities its like navigating a minefield.

    I agree, spent 20k if not more on respecs, my Nightblade is 37 and I've basically given up at the moment. Going to play my Bow/Resto Templar instead. At least most of the skills function correctly.

    My nightblade just felt SEVERELY underpowered compared to other characters I'd tried, even at 37

    It's not just that our abilities are broke. Our passives are pretty craptastic as well for the most part. The class in general needs a good looking over.

    (taken from Tamriel Foundry, but I have experienced almost all of these bugs personally)

    Assassination:

    Death Stroke <Incapacitating Strike> and <Soul Harvest> On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Assassin’s Blade <Killer’s Blade> and <Impale> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Teleport Strike <Ambush> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Haste <Focused Attacks> and <Incapacitate> – The attack speed increase of 30% doesn’t affect any weapons.
    Mark Target <Piercing Mark> and <Reaper’s Mark> – The ignore 75% of target’s Armour and Spell Resistance doesn’t appear to work.
    Mark Target <Reaper’s Mark> – The gain damage bonus effect does not appear to work.
    Mark Target <Piercing Mark> – Allows you to see and attack targets who are sneaking however not targets that are invisible currently.
    Pressure Points <Passive> – It currently gives .3% instead of 3% crit at level 2 for each Assassination ability slotted.
    Pressure Points <Passive> – it is incorrectly giving 2% crit no matter how many assassin abilities are slotted. (Anyone have extra to add to this, noting the one previously changed?).

    Shadow:

    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> – Approximately 25% of the time this ability does not trigger any of its effects.
    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> and <Dark Cloak> – On occasion you wont visually be invisible but you are to the mobs.
    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> – When utilising this ability with low resources you will instantly be removed from stealth. (Can anyone confirm its not the same as above?)
    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> and <Dark Cloak> – Your character becomes invisible however enemy players can see particle effects and thus be able to locate your player.
    Shadow Cloak <Dark Cloak> – Does not remove bleed debuffs from npc or player sourced specific ones mentioned are Axe, Twin Slashes, Cleave. (Any more to add to this, or confirm/deny?)
    Teleport Strike <Lotus Fan> and <Ambush> – Often when using Teleport strike it will have adverse effects to your FPS.
    Teleport Strike <Ambush> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Veiled Strike <Concealed Weapon> – The 22% movement speed in stealth while slotted effect appears to suffer the dreaded “Once you’ve died you need to re-log or zone to rectify the issue”. Workaround: If you re-log or change zones it will force the passive effect to work again.
    Veiled Strike <Surprise Attack> and <Concealed Weapon> – Often the animation and stun effect will occur but no damage is done to the enemy.
    Path of Darkness <Twisting Path> and <Refreshing Path> – This ability appears to be affected by terrain, the magicka cost is spent however the ability does not trigger.
    Path of Darkness <Refreshing Path> – Sometimes heals more than once per second, it has been document to happen anywhere up to 5 times per second on occasion.
    Aspect of Terror <Mass Hysteria> and <Manifestation of Terror> – The base fear effect of 2 nearby enemies doesn’t appear to last the suggested 4 seconds all the time. It is often between 1.5 – 4 seconds.
    Summon Shade <Dark Shades> and <Shadow Image> – The Shadow Image often stops attacking once the initial target it was cast on dies.
    Shadow Barrier <Passive> – Doesn’t properly increase your Armor when coming out of Stealth or Invisibility for 4 seconds.

    Siphoning:

    Strife <Funnel Health> – On occasion can heal more than the suggested 2 ally players and sometimes it doesn’t apply to anyone including the player.
    Strife <Funnel Health> – Doesn’t appear to be healing allies for the actual amount it should be, inconsistent heal effects.
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Due to the ranged nature of this spell the projectile often takes several seconds to land on the intended target (even if in melee range).
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Often once cast if the player was to turn away from the enemy target this ability will not do any damage to the intended enemy. (Nearly like it should be a channel from previous games)
    Cripple <Debilitate> and <Crippling Grasp> – The dot effect of this ability does not work on mobs that are immune to snare effects.
    Agony <Prolonged Suffering> – The added effect of this morph is meant to deal extra damage and this doesn’t work.
    Siphoning Strikes <Leeching Strike> – Only gives an extra 2.4% health instead of the expected 4%.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – The healing attribute of this morph is only increased by a maximum of 20% currently which is equal to one mob.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – Is unable to perform a critical strike for both the damage and healing component of this ability.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – Will not cast the heal effect unless the enemy is being damaged.
    Magicka Flood <Passive> – Gives 8% max magicka at level 2 per siphoning ability that is slotted. This passive doesn’t detect Strife or Soul Shred

    They also need to look at our passives compared to other classes. Things that would be nice would be a passive increase to stealth speed in the shadow tree among other things.

    I can sometimes use hide, go into stealth, go behind enemy and use surprise attack and nothing happens.
    Magicka is used up and animation goes of but nothing happens.
    Enemy just stands there in some kind of bugged mode.
    I have to wait for stealth to wear of and unhide for enemy to "notice" me.

    First i thought it was lagg but it happens so many times.

    Could it be that the DoT you got on you is breaking the invisibility before the skill can cleanse it? Because I am under the impression that currently any DoT is breaking invisibility. So if for example you are using the Dual Wield trait Twin Blade and Blunt and you have axes equipped, the DoT from the axes are breaking your invisbility. I would be happy if any can verify this for me since I won't be able to play in the next days.

    Pls mind: This is a theory, I am not able to verify this atm.

    Regarding Magicka Flood - The tooltip actually states, "With Siphoning Ability Slotted, Increases Max Magicka 8% while a Siphoning ability is slotted", leading me to believe there is no stacking effect. You will receive 8% extra magicka whether you have 1 or 5 siphoning abilities slotted. Also, the passive detects Swallow Soul (morph of Strife) fine; unable to check regarding Soul Shred as I don't have the points to spend to unlock it.

    But yeah, NB has a ton of issues that I would love to see resolved...

    Well that's part of the confusing part because to me slotted means I have the ability slotted, i.e. taking up one of my 10 slots. To ESO slotted means on the active bar. Which makes every singe passive that has the tag "slotted" even more useless than they are.

    I need to bump this, its still a massive issue that is about to cause me to un-sub. I play a nightblade so I can stealth, if i cant stealth then what am I doing? This ability almost NEVER works while engaged in combat ANYWHERE in cyrodiil.

    DEVS : Most of the time this is what happens...I hit dark cloak (with no debuffs or dots on) the spell animates and within a half second or sometimes right away, I pop right out and dark cloak has not worked. Im not talking about removing buffs, Im not talking about looking like im not stealthed but I actually am....Im talking about the spell animating and not even triggering at all. please fix this, i cannot play my class. thank you for your time.

    You are saying you are in the middle of no where and get pulled out of Dark Cloak without any reason? Well, that sounds weird. Are you sprinting perhaps?

    Granted that NB has quite a few bugged skills - the class is still playable. I average 400dps with a max of up to 1700dps at times in Cyrodil. I find the FPS drop, even outside of Cyrodil, hurt gameplay more than the few bugged skills.

    Maybe I've grown acustom to skills not working - and just play around it or deal with it. But correct me if I am mistaken, casting shadow cloak as somebody is attacking you CAN be interrupted - as any other spell can be.

    I still can shadow cloak + concealed weapon for 1700DPS successfully about 90% of the time. Add in bat swarm or soul strike and i'm well above that. I can easily kill vet12s like their nothing.

    It isn't as bad as you are saying. Maybe you just need to learn how to adapt to the type of fight you are in and the class you are playing.

    Right. The issue is definitely more than just a dot thing... I have it fail in Cyrodiil without even being in combat. Just being in the general vicinity of an enemy seems to cause it...

    Right, lot of times i get popped out during invisib. just standing near an enemy , when i try a stealth attack and he have not yet seen me.

    OK - so this is still bugged? Good to know. I was considering respeccing back into it, as I would love that purge, but if it isn't working I'll pass.

    er yeah, if you're having trouble with NB at level 37 you're doing it wrong. 1-50 is easy.

    That said, I REALLY don't have that much trouble with PVP as a Nightblade, this is DW/Bow but mostly a magic build.

    I could be better, frankly dropping DW for a Restro staff would see more damage than DW (which is comical ZOS, honestly, if you didn't see that coming then you're just bad at developing balanced games, allowing me access to all my class melee skills, with a healing staff AND a +% damage bonus pat on the head for doing it). I may as well just get rid of the bow and DW and use a Restro staff on both bars.

    That should be -10% damage but a +10% to healing done if anything, but I do kill stuff, and kill it fast. With a decent amount of Ultimate (which isn't hard for me to build with the right morphs and passives) I can Ambush, Soul Harvest kill most people my own level if they are not expecting me and if they are I can keep them flapping about me with a bow/Siphon Strikes and fear while I rebuild Ultimate ready to line them up for a big fall.

    With 400% Ultimate prebuilt, a mounted VR12 is dead meat with Ambush, Soul Harvest, Concealed Weapon, Impale.

    I'm ITCHING for Dark Cloak to start working though, I'd much rather have the purge than the crit chance, the crit chance is nice, but I just don't find myself having enough time or magicka to stealth before I hit with anything big.

    Plus the fact that when they fix it they'll fix is and shoulder shrug away the 20k I'll have to spend to respec it.

    The whole point of ES is not spamming aoe crap and fight with sticks. Its about many many many many melee and some magicka, but best is who using both. TESO is light armor and staffs. Really unballanced crap. Light armor adjustment in negative way, and AoE lowering is needed. I know Stam builds/nonidiotic weapon builds (non staffcraps) will be buffed, but still, light armor is so OP with the penetration (100% up), you wont belive....

    In PvP keep fights you just cant use cloak.
    It insteabreaks for just beeing inside the keep and there beeing defenders it seems.
    If i find an enemy standing on wall, its about 10% chance i can get into stealth, even without beeing hit at all.
