One of the major failures of DM's worldwide is reaching into their bag of tricks & pulling out the same trick over & over.
It not only fails to impress after a short period, all but the most die-hard fans of a genre, it also speaks poorly for the magician's skill set.
Every town I reach, as I reach it, is under attack by either the VH, or Pirates.... I accepted it in the "starter area" as 'the theme' .. but now as I move forward
(That was the WORST segue into another 'zone' I've ever seen done in my life btw; years ago WoW gives us a Giant squid attacks & we get this? /subscription cancelled this afternoon before you guys can bill me for certain. )
Oh, & the area I'm in is being attacked...by pirates...
*Sends a message two-cities ahead* "You are about to come under attack by pirates"
If I were to consistently show up on the heels of an invasion force, I'd stop travelling before the locals caught on & lynched me.
As will likely happen here.
This is an amateur move made by amateurs in the industry, & I truly hope whoever is responsible for your level design(s) doesn't quit their day job.
