Just want to say,

make nameplate's available in game or even optional, to turn it on or off. So that players that like playing MMO'S, have the feeling that they actually playing an MMO and not a Single-player game. It also benefits the social aspect when playing PVP and PVE with friends or randoms.

Sorry to say this, it may be annoying to some die hard Single-player RPG guys here but this is an MMO FFS Zanimax...come on...

This should be not that hard to implement, i mean this is an MMO right? right?..

    Yeap i totally support this.

This is a MMO , and thus should have BASIC MMO features has options.

Im a huge fan of the ES series , but honestly , this is a poor ES game when compared even to morrowind , which is ok , does not make this a bad game on itself , but they are also forcing this to be a poor MMO because it needs to be a ES game.

They are stuck in the middle , failing both sides in my opinion.

I am with u on this one that it should have been within the game since launch. It is a BASIC feature that is very well integrated in MMO'S for the last 15y. Elder scrolls or not fact is this is not a Single-player game and it should have been in the game a long long time even in BETA. For those that start a Flame war u can not disagree with this, would be just pointless. Remember MMO...

yes lets make elder scrolls just like every other wow clone. Those clones have been super successful following that model haven't they?

Yes , because adding BASIC features , like the option to either see or not nameplates , is the same as being a WoW clone.

Which is even funnier , because it was not WoW that even came up with nameplates.

Well we have a FRESH new style in mmos that I hope catches on. No one NEEDS nameplates.

plz stop talking BS, All MMO'S have nameplate's MMO's before WOW had nameplate's. It is a integrated feature that is a must in all MMO's.

This has nothing to do with wow, i guess u where 8y at the release day of wow and never knew a other MMO ? Comment of yours is just a disgrace man really, and to mention WOW and Clone in 1 sentence, as comparison.../FACEPALM

Mate , lets be resonable here , this is not about a NEED. Because NEED is quite the strong word to be used in a game.

Nobody NEEDs to play without nameplates also , i assure you.

This is something that is there to make people enjoy more the game , it is that simple. Some enjoy the game more without said nameplates , im ok with it , im not saying people should be forced to have them.

But some would enjoy it more with them , just give the option to the player and this make people happy by being able to decide by themselves.

I guess the main question is why does the game need nameplates? How is it essential to enjoying the game?

As to why I don't need them...I like looking and seeing just "people", not PCs or NPCs. If I want to know their name then I have to actually go up and focus on them. The inability to easily distinguish from PC or NPC is different from other games and the more ESO is different the more I like it.

I find I'm enjoying this game very much BECAUSE there are no name-plates and I don't have to see "Bunny Kitten" or "Luke Skywalker".
But options are always good ... so why not? Make them an option and I've got no problem.

The two easiest options for this would be either a toggle for displaying, or an addon
That way it pleases both sides, those who want and those who dont
Easy fix for pvp is to not make them visiable in pvp for opposing factions or when hiding

Just because it falls into the same sub-genre, doesn't mean it has to follow the same unwritten rules as other MMOs, just like any other genre out there; it's okay to be different.

Honestly, this shouldn't be a debate over old-guard versus new. It doesn't matter what WoW does. What matters is that, right now, it can be very difficult to identify people unless you're grouped with them. You could be standing right next to someone you know, and you wouldn't even know it unless you mouse over them. It's also possible to sometimes confuse PCs and NPCs/mobs, at first glance. This becomes worse in large crowds.

It would simply make the game more user friendly if the option for some kind of "nameplate" type thing to be put into the game for those of us who want an easier way of telling who is who.

I think the key word here is OPTION. Make it a toggle. That way, people who feel they need it can turn it on, people who want nothing to do with it can just ignore it. Oh, and the default setting for the toggle should be "off". Those who want it should have to go turn it on. That way, the people who don't want are not forced to deal with it for even a second.

    There. Problem solved.
