Need to make a plan for Resto. Staff Sorcerer

I've respeced a couple of times because I'm terrible at planning. Basically I need to use a skill planner and stick with it.

My original idea of what I wanted to do was a Sorc that could switch from Healer to Blaster Castor with the click of a button. I was REALLY excited for that, but could not get my heals and damage to balance, I was a weak heal.

I then went pretty much full Resto Staff. Which also sucks. I can't do enough damage to kill things and it's kinda sad.

I'd like to go with my original idea, or at least have a healer that can live through solo questing if needed. And since I apparently don't know what I'm doing, I'd like people to post some build ideas here.

PS. I like crafting too, and hope to be able to do that decently. Aiming at Alchemy, Provisioning , and Enchanting.

    Anyone? I'm REALLY bad at the planning aspect. I'm LVL 24 and getting myself squished like a bug.

    Daedric summoning + resto staff = cake soloing. Low to moderate dps but higher than resto staff alone by quite a bit. mine runs with Clanfear and Winged Twilight for pets, the curse for a nuke, and regen + the cone heal for healing/buffing.
    Some questions answer themselves:
    So what is the problem with building specifically against an oil farm????

    My "blaster" sorc setup uses resto staff for the 10% damage while equipped and the magika regen on heavy attack. No other resto skills are on my bar while soloing.

    Velocius Curse, Mages Wrath, Crystal Shards, Bolt Escape, and Dark Conversion. Ult is Absorbtion Field

    Nearly all normal mobs die from a 3,1,2, cycle. Dark Conversion + Heavy attack for regen. Ulti and Bolt escape get me out of anything unplanned.

    For bosses I add in heals depending on difficulty replacing mages wrath with the hot first.

    Dark conversion is kind of a key skill for a pure magika spec imo.

    Light armor passives + magika food are super important for your playstyle.

    My other bar is dual wield with critical surge for large mob packs.

    Another option is to not actually "use" a resto staff while killing. A bow and pets was very easy to solo with at early levels for me. Just switch to the staff and a bar full of heals when you turn in quests to level it. Is there a reason your trying to power level resto staff by grinding with it? After the first 3 heals you don't need much else to heal well. Sure the passives are good but not essential.

    If you're level 15,
    you should try actively weapon swapping in combat.

    It took me a while to get used to it,
    but it's extremely valuable for switching between healing and dps

    All you need is Dark Conversion, Volatile familiar, Resto Staff, Crystal Shards. That's all you need for the entire game up to V5. And probably up to V10. There is literally nothing that is better than that core since it's all native (with the exception of the staff) and you can build around it.

    Clanfear is mostly a stupid choice as you then have to resort to non-native methods for AoE and then you will need Critical Surge for sustain. Also, volatile imp can tank bosses up until VR4 at the very least so it's good enough. But there you go, boom, get dark conversion, use crystal shards for single target, use volatile familiar for AoE.
