Random Stutters and UserSettings.txt

First my rig:

FX6300
R9 270X 2GB using latest official driver and not using the beta one.
8GB ram

I usually have around 30-45 fps in towns, and 45-65 elsewhere (normal areas and dungeons)

However for some reason I still keep stuttering, it was gone a few days but returned just a few minutes earlier.

The fixes I tried were:

1) Run as admin - was okay until I changed maps

2) Close launcher after clicking play - by far a very good fix and i though this cured everything.

3) In my documents, in the Elder Scrolls Online folder I edit the UserSettings.txt folder and change the line SET RequestedNumThreads "-1" and change the -1 to 0. - this fixes it by I have doubts on it.

My question is: what does exactly changing the requested number of threads do? is it bad for my CPU? will it cause it to break?

Also for some reason I was getting no stutters at all and I tried stressing it via spamming teleport all over the area and my fps never dropped below 50. However at one area my fps steadily went down to 28-48 fps. while I was just standing, I believe it was in Reaper's March.

Any other suggestions?

I don't know of any game setting that could be "bad" for your CPU. I'm pretty sure the Requestnum of threads is the settings that affects how many cores your game tries to use. I'm guessing that -1 means use them all, where the other setting limits the game to use 1 core out of the 4,6,8 cores that you may have.

You're not going to "wear out" 1 core faster than the other. Normally you would see a small performance loss, since most games today take advantage of multiple cores (up to 4 in most games).

I'm guessing with too many threads going, the game might have been getting a bit jumbled and that caused performance loss\stuttering.

If you have the ESOHEAD addon, disable it as it can cause your game to microstutter when...basically doing anything. Second, go to your device manager and disable all audio drivers besides the main one you have your speakers connected to ten RS your computer and play.

@fatalslink‌ - i only have FTC and Zygor, disabling them makes no difference as well.

@Dalexx‌ - yeah i was scared I might wear out one core over the rest, and yes the problem relies with multiple cores since I usually see 100% cpu load when I stutter.
