Ready to start PvP in my first MMO ... what advice can you convey?

So, my Level 31 Altmer Sorcerer is thinking about taking a break from questing and starting PvP. If there was ONE point I need to know about the Alliance Campaigns what is it?

By the way, this character doesn't like the Dominion very much ... and especially enjoyed the Salas En quest (Alik'r Desert) against the Aldmeri reinforcements.

Make good use of bolt escape , have fun solo and small group pvping. Don't stick to the Zerg all the time.

Well, since you came to the forums for advice, don't listen to anyone saying you can't do something simply because they are bad and can't do it themselves. Namely killing vet players. Know who you are going up against as far as player lvl, profession and surroundings. Use everything you can to YOUR advantage when going up against someone that's 20-30ish levels higher than you.

Don't get discouraged quickly. give it time. this type of pvP can be brutal at times but if you learn from your mistakes and take pointers from those who enjoy it, it can be the best time you ever have in a video game. And don't listen to all the complaining about pvP on the forums. None of the complaints really have any merit and most are just from people who just plain don't understand the combat mechanics. cc break in PvP is a must. same as an interupt, RMB then LMB, and grants cc immunity for a few seconds. not sure if its five or eight.
One more thing, ALWAYS make sure you are "hidden" before checking bags, maps, etc.

I suggest you buy a special horse for pvp.
Feed it only with stuff that makes it faster.
    Blink... blink and blink :)

You will be able to get faster to battles after death and will be able to get away from the enemy zerg if needed.

As a newbie you will make a lot mistakes at the beginning.
Learn where you chars advantages are and avoid "bad"situations.

I think you will have a lot of fun if you do not mind to loose from time to time :)

Try to get with a group! Safety in numbers, or at least a good time in numbers!

Relax and chill. You're going to die and you're going to get ganked at times so once you've accepted that then everything is MUCH more enjoyable! c:

You can actually leave a siege weapon and run around while it's reloading (hit the escape key I think). It helps keep you from being a sitting duck until it's ready to fire again.

Good luck and have fun! ♥

Don't listen to this person. Myself and others have been pvping since hitting lvl 10. At around 25-30, you start being able to take on most veteran rank players. @magischzwei is just bad.

Poorly reasoned? How is it that when I was lower level, I could take out veteran lvl players? And how is it that others are able to as well, as a lower level?? Guess it's not you or anything. It must be the pvp mechanic that's in place. God forbid that you're just not that good right now, but instead of learning some different tactics, you come here and post that ZOS needs the change the ENTIRE pvp mechanic to suit ppl like you. People who are unwilling to put any time or thought into how to pvp, and just run into a group of vet lvl players and then think that it's the pvp mechanics fault that you're dying and not your own.

Yeah, PvP is for everyone and it's fun even at lvl 10.
Sure in 1v1 a V10 will (probably) trash you but that's just a situation to look out for and avoid.

It's all about situations. Don't rush into things. Don't ride your horse through the middle of the enemy. Don't stand in the road in full view wondering where everyone is and looking at your map.
If you see others doing these things, don't assume it's OK to do it too. Or you'll spend all your time running back from spawn and bitching about it.
Think ahead - see that rise in front? - what's the chances of 40+ enemy standing right behind it?

Combat advice? You need instant skills (get rid of that lovely Crystal Shards nuke - it's useless) Draedic Curse, Mage's Fury - that's the sort of stuff you want.

#1 - join a group - any group, and stick with them. Keep at the back of fights at first and use your ranged abilities (sneak a LOT - it's a really valuable skill).
When you develop your skills a bit, you'll find sorc isn't all that squishy, even in cloth. Anyway, you'll be surprised how many people will run away rather than fight if you look menacing enough.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

Or maybe you get v4+ people 1v20 others because they have some silly spec that takes advantage of their stat superiority.

Any vr+ person who gets killed in anything less then 10v1 is a noob and should uninstall instantly.

You really ARE that bad at pvp in this game, aren't you. Perhaps you should follow your own advice, and do us all a favor at the same time......and just uninstall.

I agree @Cydone I don't understand why people find the need to embellish so much. @Magischzwei If a VR player gets killed by less than ten non VRs he sucks? I believe it is you who sucks...VRs are not faceroll difficult if you understand the game mechanics and how this type of PvP works LTP

Best advice I can give is join a good pvp guild, or at least try that out as an option. It's a whole other level of fun compared to just running blindly with a zerg. ey just want people who are willing to be a team player and learn.

So, I just did a scout mission and some fort battles ... had a good time. My mage is really suited for battle from a distance, but I guess that's how I've been playing PvE. Thanks to all the members of the "blue" team for letting me be your backup!

    - Don't worry about being killed.
    - Follow/join a group and just get stuck in.
    - Maybe look at different skills as some are geared more toward pve.
    - Keep a look out in chat/map for battles/skirmishes.
    - Sneak. If your on your own trying to quest in cyrodiil or hunting players, sneak is your friend. You are invisible whilst hidden, but it's the same in as in pve, if a player gets too near you'll show up.

Cyrodiil is great...and dangerous. Even if your questing or running dungeons, the chances of running into the opposing factions keeps you on edge!

First put up your pet as it doesnt sneak when you do. do the starter intro quests to figure out how to use seige equipment. spend some time looking at the map, watching zone chat to see what they are talking about, hover mouse over all the keeps to get a layout of keep names etc.

when you are ready, start looking for a group in chat. watch for groups being made and leaders asking if anyone wants in then join if someone sends you a group invite. Once in, look at the map and where the others are at, port to the closest keep. you might wait for others to start to ride to the action. avoid direct routes to the action due to gank parties. remember to sneak to avoid detection. if youre spotted by a gank party (most have the fastest mounts now) and you have time, get off the horse and go into sneak to avoid direct combat till your ready

listen to your leader via chat, dont rush the keep doors, stay back, prepare to die alot and spend most of your time riding back to action. when you get some points buy some siege equipment and / or oil pots, repair equipment for walls and doors, invest in pvp skills when you get some points

    good luck
