Concealed weapon - Not working, or seems like its just for me

swoop.romerb16_ESO
Used to be a vampire, i respecced, cleansed my vampirism and went for concealed weapon for the movement speed in stealth... but hey, its doesnt work!

Ive tried everything, relogging, reenter stealth, take my equipment off, empty my skill bars, w/e the movement speed just doesnt work. And no, its not only supposed to work with shadowy cloak, and even there it doesnt work.

Is this just me?
  • swoop.romerb16_ESO
Omg i just realized something. Can it really be, that you cant compare these two skills? That concealed weapon ONLY works when you use shadowy cloak and not normal sneaking? Is this right??

*** i feel so dumb if its the case...

Nope, I took surprise attack, don't know how concealed weapon is doing, when I had it, it definitely wasn't as noticeable as dark stalker is from the vampire skill tree.

    Concealed Weapon works.

The issue you are seeing is that Concealed Weapon's 25% while stealthed is not as noticeable on its own as is the Vamp bonus.

That is because the Vamp bonus isn't a speed buff. Rather it removes the penalty to sneak speed entirely. The Vamp passive functions exactly like the 5 piece bonus on the Shadow Dancer set. They both remove the stealth speed penalty (and they don't stack since you can only remove a penalty once).

Normally, stealth movement speed is 50% of your movement speed. With either vamp or the set I mentioned you move at normal 100% speed in stealth. Add Concealed Weapon on top of that and you are moving at 125% base speed while stealthed, but if you use just Concealed Weapon you are buffing your speed but still suffer the stealth penalty which brings you down to around 62.5% speed (if that is in fact how it works the 25% speed could be added straight to the 50% stealth speed bringing you to 75%).

Either way you still move slower than normal movement with only Concealed Weapon while stealthed.

This is also why Concealed Weapon seems to work perfectly in Cloak. Cloak doesn't actually stealth you. It just makes you invisible for a period of time which counts as stealth for the purposes of skills. The "counts as stealth" from Cloak means you get the move bonus from Concealed Weapon while not suffering from the speed penalty of truly stealthing. Which lets you see the full 25% effect from Concealed Weapon.

Your best options to be fast while in stealth is to combine Concealed Weapon with either the Shadow Dancer set (this is Light Armor btw) or the Vamp passive. It is pointless to get both because they don't stack though. I know from experience as a VR4 NB Vamp with the set.

When you switch weapons while sneaking, you loose the concealed weapon bonus if it isn't on your second bar.

And you don't regain it if you reswitch... You have to get out of stealth and crouch again to make it work again.

It is not working anymore after patch. Not sure why Yelgis stated it does. I have never been a vamp so I can't say anything about that skill line.

A very good explanation, and i would add one more option at the end: wait for them to fix the new night's silence set bonus - it is supposed to increase stealthed movement speed 220%, but doesn't work at the moment.

I'm very curious how/if this will stack with the other speed bonuses once fixed.

I somehow doubt that it will be a 220% increase, I am more willing to think that this is a typo. Stealth movement speed is 50% of the normal speed, so a 220% increase would mean that you are moving faster while sneaking than while walking. Compare it to the already existing options to improve sneak movement speed and this would be just too good to be true.

The Night's Silence set is probably either a typo (meant to say 22%) or it was changed for no good reason and it's going back to it's previous effects.

Also the Dark Stalker from vamp line is a joke. It is far too powerful to give to all classes. NB's should have the best stealth in game and currently they are not even close to vamps..

Concealed Weapon as stated before does work perfectly just as before the patch for me atleast. NB Vamp here

Some things to note* The speed increase only works when you are stealthed not crouche, meaning once you hit combat the speed is gone.

Edit* That said the skill itself is pretty awesome and is part of the reason I'm kept being NB till VR12. Combine Steed Stone+ Dark Stalker+Concealed weapon to be the fastest runner ever!

One thing I wish they fixed would be sneak cost costing for time spent moving rather than distance traveled...

Like its said above, it does work, just its very very minimal. I got rid of vamp because i hated getting destroyed by DK, and then when i saw what dark stalker actually does and within a couple hours i was a vamp again xD
Banned for Naming and Shaming exploiters. Great ideology ZOS.

Incorrect on so many levels. ALL Classes have stealth, ALL Classes have access to sneak penalty negation, ALL Classes can choose to be a Vampire or not. NB is in FACT the fastest sneaking Class in the game, period. Just because you don't "like" the options given to you as a NB doesn't mean they are present and available for you or any other NB to utilize.

I realize that this thread is somewhat old, but I did want to help clarify this thought. I am currently utilizing the Night's Silence stealth buff, as well as the Dark Stalker and Concealed Weapon. While I am not entirely sure of the actual speed increase, I can tell you that I move at unbelievable speeds while in stealth. So much so, that I have been able to outrun high ranking vets on their mount in stealth. I can't say for sure whether or not their speed had been maxed out for their mount. But, I've never been outran by someone on a mount at all. While I am thoroughly enjoying being able to cross entire areas in just a couple minutes like this, I think it's absolutely ridiculous. I haven't gone in to Cyrodiil yet (just hit Vet 1 yesterday), but I am imagining that I will be able to slaughter someone and then be well on my way before anyone has the time to react. Just doesn't seem fair.

I am aware of this but I think that this - just like the discussed tool tipp - is something devs didn't really consider when they made the changes. Once more.
