Resto Staff Magicka Regen

Renuvasb14_ESO
Is it true that you recieve magicka by hitting an enemy with heavy attacks? I can't find it officially stated, only by word of mouth.

It's very true. I use resto staff as my main weapon for sorcs, and as a backup weapon for my dragonknight.

It's pretty powerful especially if you combine it with the variety of knockdowns that allow you to keep an enemy on the ground while you charge up.

Wait, I use a resto staff and I dont think I ever noticed this effect. Just using heavy attacks, no points needed in any specific skill or anything, somehow gives you magicka back?
  • kennylpj_ESO
Oh my gosh! Are you guys serious? It's the primary reason to use the restoration staff!

Yes, my oh my yes. Use a skill the drains your magic, then use the heavy attack on your resto staff and watch it pop back up. You gain a portion of the damage you cause.

Resto staff cause very little damage, mind you, so at high levels you don't get tons. However, a steady stream coming in is always nice and usually results in 2/3 more magic skill casts per fight.

I will often switch away from my sword and shield and to my restoration staff when I need to get into longer boss fights. The heals that come with and the ability to restore my mp (as a dragonknight) makes me almost invincible.

Well holy awesomesauce amazeballz. Thanks. Why the hell doesn't it say so in the tool tip. I only picked it up as a second bar weapon so I had a way to heal myself!

It's actually one of the passive skills that you put points in. I believe it's the first passive below the active skills in the tree.

The blue spell effect at the end of Heavy Attack is same as drinking a Magicka potion. The first Passive Essence Drain heals for 15% of damage done from Heavy, that's in addition to Magicka boost.
