PvP rewards and motivation.

chiefenb16_ESO
I lose all motivation, I mean capturing and holding a keep gives you nothing a farm wont give you.. it merely drains your resources in terms of defense.
Sure you get bonuses to your whole campaign. Yet the guild claiming a keep wont get anything for it at all. If you mention the guild-store.. you might aswell just claim a farm for that :disappointed: This is a step in the wrong direction, I'm gonna make a comparison with another game.. you all know which I guess.. yes talking about Guildwars 2. You get choices when you got a keep, like how you want to upgrade it. You need to protect supply caravans. In ESO everything is automatic, no choices.. nothing. Only one objective, hold the resources. This is getting boring and unrewarding REALLY fast.

Something has to be done. I was glad about one thing.. and that was mercenaries you could place to defend your holding.. yet they are pretty useless due to despawning over time. There should be something like keep resources. Ability to send out small patrols or even small grp's of npc's to assault other people's resources. Maybe even make it so that the only way to spawn siege weaponry is to hire npc's from your keep to deliver them to enemy keep. Making you need to escort them untill you're there. That would also change the fact that it's so damn quick to take a keep.

Maybe something like taxes from surrounding cities should be implemented, giving a keep some worth for the claiming guild.

Sorry this is not a rant but at the moment it feels like it's gw2 0.8 in terms of cyrodil.
I've got great expectations for this game.

Please keep it constructive guys!

There is none, and they have stated they want none, and they have removed any there used to be.

The entire cryodiil system is a large turd and needs removing asap.

Not removing, just re-imagining. PvP needs to be more rewarding in the very things that the OP is talking about. Also, needs to be rewarding in regards to xp and gold.

I played arround 2 years in WHO, the 2 years of the game and I think their RvR reward system was the better that I ever saw.

The ranks system with the new armor set every 10 levels and the RvR skilltree kept me playing all the days, a part of this, the kill drop system was perfect for me, droping XP, RvR XP, items, etc.

I think TESO needs a similar reward system soon.

I would encourage people to think new instead of taking from another game. This game got way more possibilities than what you might be used to. No offence!
Another example would be to be able to upgrade your keep with blacksmiths etc etc. Make items hurt in pvp aswell. So that you actually need the gold. And make killing players reward a small amount of gold aswell! or perhaps make it possible to repair with alliance points.

I'd also like to think that I don't want a system with gear and such. Rather make holdings matter. Not just for the whole campaign, but for the guild who claimed it! Guild store ain't gonna cut it at all! Perhaps make the PvE part in cyrodil also reward you with alliance points?

It does already. You can run PvE missions for xp/ap/gold. Although the rewards are very little in terms of xp/gold.

I've spent a couple of nights doing those. They aren't really worth holding.

The quests fizzle out after about half a level (which can take quite a while). If you're wanting XP or gold this is about the worst way to go about it.

The only reason to be there is to gank the enemies who are trying to run them, which works better if you don't own the keeps near them as you'll have more enemies.

And that's exactly my point. Since the nerf of the repeatable kill 20 players quest, there are no real viable ways to level up in pvp anymore.

I agree that the pvp needs some kind of other objective to keep players going. Since this is a pseudo-daoc system i would say somthing like Realm Ranks should be in place for us. Make us more powerful for devoting time to pvp.

I, personally, wouldn't want ranks. Just better rewards for killing players, capturing keeps/resources and participating in actual PvP. Not doing the crappy PvE quests inside Cyrodiil that grant AP.

Agreed. Heaven forbid we get rewarded with a blue item that might actually be an upgrade. Right now, there is little to no character progression for PvP players. The experience is minimal, the gold is non existent, and the vendor items are trash. The blue VR1 stuff I can craft now is almost as good as the VR10 purple items sold at PvP vendors.

    Serious petition to Zenimax:

Add more content in Cirodiil, you nailed a goob RvR base but need more. Add more chain quest, add more npc and towns, add world bosses hard to kill, add interesting rewards when killing a player (more for skilled players killed), add a variety of bounty quests, add spcial and hard veteran ranks quests, add more.

Now Cirodiil is a extense dead zone with 1 or 2 zergs running away.

Is this the rvr that you want?

    Me not. Improve Cirodiil soon.

Its a brand new game, the PvP is amazing, but it needs a Lot of work. It is modeled after DAoC or WAR, not GW. They have stated that the PvP is as finished as the PvE, meaning PvP endgame hasn't even been implemented. We have ZERO raids right now PvE, so why would they just blatantly ignore PvP.

Agreed more needs to be done. It will only last so long without progression or incentive. The best PvP days I had were daoc and games like lineage 2 where you had reasons to take things from other people

I got the Kill Counter addon off of esoui.
Tracking my KDR over time gives me more motivation in PvP than any of the existing in-game rewards do.

The keep based system is a good thing, but it shouldn’t be the “be all and end all” of the pvp
If they wanted to create a bigger war feeling there is some things they could do,
I understand every pvp is essentially the same at its core. And in ESO its one side in a keep, the other side knocking the walls down
No one fights outside of keeps , and if your faction owns them all no one fights at all really.
Options to take the fight away from the keeps too would be nice, supply caravans are a popular options that would bring the fights to the fields
It’s a good start, and will be built on, just how they build from it will be the big question
