Just got to Stormhaven and I desperately need to upgrade my cloth armor.

I can't seem to find Flax anywhere....any clues?

Thanks.

Assuming Stormhaven is the equivalent to Stonefalls (jute is the current tier you are finding, correct?) you need to go to the next area to find it. If you have out levelled jute you are probably strong enough to be able to start venturing into the next area. You can always go on a gathering mission, then return to mop up the handful of quests/world bosses/etc you have left after.

I'm actually all done with Jute...that was found in the last zone, Glenumbra.

I'm now in Stormhaven and can't seem to find Flax anywhere. Jute was everywhere in Glenumbra.

Level 20 and I'm stuck with some pieces of level 14 armor! Lol
Luckily I'm getting some upgrades from quests but I'd like to finish of the last few slots.

    Thanks for your help!

Flax is a very small plant with blue flowers. It's not very obvious.

It helps to have a point in the clothing line that helps you see the plants. Flax and cotton are both difficult to see without it.

This, Even after I saw what flax looked like, I still ran towards every cornflower I saw only to have my hopes dashed; and cotton I passed up the first 2-3 times because the only time I'd seen it previously was as an alchemical ingredient in skyrim. spider silk gets a little easier, but I've found ebon thread to be decet at hiding as well.

At least a point in that skill for clothier is a must for farming significant amounts of cloth materials.

Ok I'll spend the skill point. I was hoping to avoid it but oh well.

    Thanks for the tips!

    Greetings Calaban,

Basically, I learned what flax look like 17 years ago on Ultima Online (ohhhhh yeah). :)

The fact is... It's frelling blue !
And like some level designer and artist love playing some jokes (it's like "find Charly) :) seems they put them in all bigs blue flowers surfaces of Stormheaven.

    Two way to spot them:
-The easy one - buy the skill perks
    - The hard way? Straife :) yup! Seems animations are not impacting ressources spots, so, other decoratives flower will be animated but not the flax.

    It's blue on blue

in stormhaven, you need to loot both flax and cotton. flax with be the small blue flowers. if i remember right, cotton will be a small white flower. I read somewhere that turning your gfx settings down (big time) can help some nodes stand out without the skills though the game will look horrible. I had no trouble spotting and figuring out the new cloth nodes when i got to stormhaven but I'm a compulsive looter in teso games heh. I usually start toons out in them just gathering mats for hours and leveling alchemy, and in skyrim the crafting skills and then getting gold and easy levels off all that stuff. tedious as hell, but a good jump start and then I still loot compulsively every single thing i see heh.

In Stormhaven just to the north-west of Wayrest, there is a large meadow that has flax scattered about as well as high iron and lots of oak. Flax is blue but is the smallest of the flowers with a few pedals. Corn Flower is more prominent to the look with larger petals. Flax is usually camouflaged fairly well by blankets of blue daisy-like flowers but is also in the shade next to cliff walls. Wolves, spiders and beetles too if you like grinding those. Flax is tall, yellow / orange, not blue. Sometimes if you leave the area and sign out, and come back later the stuff respons.

the devs seem to have had a blast by putting the flax mostly in or near patches of blue ambient flowers...

Even when you know what to look for flax can be fiendishly difficult to see in the stormhaven area.

the reason you cannot see or find it: crafter, meet "your friend" the bot. They are ripping out plants from every area of the game to the point where you can be looking for hours and not see a single one, or worse, watch them pop right down into the ground before you get to it...disgusting.
