I reached level 50 last night and I want to respect before starting veteran content. I really enjoy the melee skills like ambush and surprise attack from stealth but I fancy trying to add some healing abilities on my second bar with a resto staff. I levelled prioritising stamina for the weapon skills aiming for a crit heavy build but I now read that I can hit the magicka and stamina soft caps through food and enchants alone so I will be redistributing my attributes so that I am just nudging the soft caps with enchants and food then put the rest into health.
What I need is some tips for using the resto staff and what 5 skills + ultimate I should have on my bar. Some idea of what my rotation should be would be useful too. This game focuses very heavily in finding the synergy between various skills and passives so I would appreciate some explanation of what synergises well with between the NB combat and healing (syphon) abilities.

Have to say, I am in no way a professional healer, this is the first time I am off-healing more regularly in a game.

I am using either Bolstering Darkness or Soul Siphon as an ultimate, Healing Springs, Mutagen, Siphoning Attacks and Healing Ward. The last one is currently Funnel Health but I plan on replacing it with Sap Essence once I get that one morphed. Gonna see how that works out though and compare the healing numbers of the two skills.

Healing Springs I use mainly for getting credit for all kills my group makes, seems to work better with it. Otherwise I replace this with Funnel Health and keep Sap Essence.

After my allies engage and start getting damaged, I throw Healing Springs. For fastly decreasing hp I use Steadfast Ward, followed by Mutagen. I attack enemies whenever I got time, so I can regain Magicka from Siphoning Attacks and the staff passive. Ultimates are saved for emergencies.

On my second bar I got dps abilities. Shadowy Disguise comes handy when you need to get away from enemies and with passives gives nice armor and stamina regen for a short time. Sparks helps with single enemies focusing me or my allies low who are low on health when I am out of magicka. Killer's Blade for regaining magicka and health on kills.
