What does the color of a crafted item's name mean?

I'm not clear what the significance of white, green, blue and purple names on items is. I thought it had to do with the item's level in relation to your character's level, but I saw a green item that was many items below my level so I guess that's not true. How does this relate to enchanting glyphs?

    It's the overall quality of the item, not in relation to your level, just in relation to other items.

    Basically:
    White = Normal
    Green = Fine
    Blue = Superior
    Purple = Epic
    Orange = Legendary

    As an item goes up in quality, the overall stats of the item (armor provided, damage done, power of enchant/food/potion effect) incrementally increase over the previous quality level. In the case of weapons and armor, improving the item quality will also increase the trait effect.

    Specific to enchanting glyphs, a higher quality glyph will provide a more potent effect. Say a White +health glyph provides 25 health, a Green may provide +30, Blue may provide +35, etc.
