As some of you may know, there are those who use colored text to bark orders at the entirety of the force. For some reason, these people believe that changing the color of your text grants rank. NOW, one caveat:
I use colored text.
My character name is Aydinn in EP. Last night, I discovered that while the use of colored text can be annoying, it can be very helpful. When I started using it, I in no way believed myself to be any sort of leader. Instead, I see myself as a War Crier; Someone who listens to the opinions and tactics of prominent and active members of our force and relays them in a more alertive fashion.
At first, there was some backlash as there were some who believed I was just another idiot screaming orders at people that had no reason to follow. After a few decisions and after taking back a keep very strategically, no one seemed to be annoyed. So with that being said, there are a few things to remember if you are going to be a War Crier:
-Don't order, make the suggestions of others and only advise if it is your own opinion.
-You have to remain tactful. Don't get in a fight with some jerk just because he insults you or tells you to shut up. Unless the rest of the force agrees, you are being helpful. Arguing with someone doesn't help your conquest. It just spams the chat window with garbage.
-As suggested by Deafside, a wonderful player and teammate; Use white text in zone and stay away from neon/bright colors. It's not annoying, but it still grabs attention.
-Know the battlefield. Being a Crier means that someone may actually listen to you, so leading them into death doesn't help your reliability.
-And above all, BE RESPECTFUL. You are not a General, and no one NEEDS to listen to you.
Any view on this position? I think it's very helpful when you don't have a complete idiot behind the keyboard.
