Nightblade - Soul Siphon Does Not Heal Self

mr_pickles9000b16_ESO
The Soul Siphon morph for the Soul Shred ultimate says that it heals up to 3 nearby allies. I wanted to note: it does not heal the caster, only allies. So for soloing, it is a very poor morph.

(I wanted to post this as I couldn't find this stated in any threads, and in fact I saw a few posts with incorrect info.)

the tool tips leave much to be desired and are very deceiving for most class abilities.
Doesn't help that most NB abilities are busted and don't work.

    This ^

There's a ton of class abilities that outright dont work for NB (Haste is a good example, use Haste with a bow, the only way the speed buff will work is if you bug out a heavy attack by clipping it early, then the haste will kick in).

I hope they start rectifying the math behind our passives, too.

I too would love to see things fixes.
I'm almost level 40 and i'm bordering on rerolling a DK or Templar simply because they seem to work.

Thanks for this. I chose Soul Tether but I was considering doing a respec to get more self healing.

It's not bugged. Generally if any abilities mention allies that doesn't include self. Look at all other ults by other classes that mention activates by allies, none of them can be detonated by the caster as far as I know either.

I agree the class has some bugs, but the tool tip is fine on this one. I was never confused and always knew this one works the way it does as described by the tool tip.

While I know the OP wasn't claiming this ability to be bugged only stating it performs as the tool tip says, changing the discussion to include bugged abilities can be confusing to new people sifting through these threads as well. Which is why I felt the need to clarify the ability isn't bugged at all and performs exactly as stated.

Except every single templar heal says it "heals an ally" but will heal the player. The wording needs to be fixed on some skills because they are misleading.

Quoted for truth, and that includes Resto staff heals as well. I don't think any say that they'll heal the caster, but they will.

For this specific skill, it is a little more obvious, however, that it won't heal the caster since the heal only comes from the synergy effect that only your allies can trigger for themselves.

the only templar skill that actually mentions the PLAYER is the Healing Ritual, where it "Heals player for additional 30%" which means it heals you more than it heals other people... but it is correct, none of the other abilities specify anyone but Allies. Was hoping the NB skills meant the same thing :(

My apologies I wasn't aware Templar abilities that mentioned allies only on activations affected them as well.
  • Nugeneration
Are you sure those templar abilities are activates though? I haven't played a templar enough personally to know the name of all of their skills.

I still feel like activations that mentions allies (like activating the chain lighting affect from the mages ult) have no affect with any of their class casters.

The skill you are talking about is having an extra synergy that enables others to use the skill and give it an extra edge. Synergies can always only be used by other players.

To be clear: yes, Soul Shred has an activation heal for allies... but I am talking about the Soul Siphon morph for Soul Shred, which adds a "heal 3 nearby allies" effect which does not require activation--it happens automatically as part of the ultimate.

That effect only heals allies, which was unclear to me (for exactly the reason people are talking about above: Templar abilities that say "heals nearby allies" also heal the caster).

It makes you wonder what the hell the beta testers have been doing besides just streaming on twitch etc to get their own view counts up.

Kudos for the senseless remark. Do you really think everythimg the beta testers say or ask for gets fixed/implemented. Please don't be naive, there has been tons of complaints about the tooltips and bugs.

Kudos for jumping to conclusions once again (you stalking me?).
The only thing people have seen from the beta testers was the massive spam all over the place on any forum about people needing to watch their twitch channel etc...
On each of those channels (i did watch some) never were any bugs highlighted and only praise for the game.
Seeing the release and the plethora of bugs that have arisen it is extremely hard to believe these bugs were not in the beta build.

Nobody cares what was mentioned during streams. The devs didn't watch streams looking for bugs, they read /feedback and beta forums (PTS, mostly). Misleading tooltips were reported through the proper channels. Repeatedly. Evidently ZOS had more important issues on hand, which I kinda agree with, things like disappearing bank slots and broken phasing are much bigger problems than ambiguous tooltips.

I played in the beta. Issues came and went with bugs all beta long. Most vague tool tip descriptions were reported. All things considered this game has had the best launch of any triple A mmo that I know of to date. Bugs will always be prevalent during the release of a new mmo. A lot has to do with the nature the games are coded combined with the sheer number of players whom discover new bugs during the process as well

The tooltip says "Siphon your health into nearby allies." Does this mean that when an ally hits X, the health is going to drain from me while he heals?

We've been reporting stuff in the beta, but unless you were one of the "pro" testers you really didn't get taken seriously, or got told by fellow testers "LOL we use an old version, its already fixed."
Please try not to think I'm hostile, I'm not trying to be. I just have a hard time wording things with tact >_<.
