The AvA area is HUGE, you can go on for hours PvEing and not meeting anyone, or you can be killed repeatedly by people running to AvA action. Some places you can easily be killed, others no problem.
yea but shard camping for noobs isn't uncommon either......try sneaking??? Watch others....cant offer much help other than that......find a group willing to shard hunt real fast.
I am a lowly level 11 DK, I was just wondering how many times I am likely to eat dirt if I try to gather up the Cyradil skyshards ?
Sneak, find cover before recovering stamina/ looking at map and if you see enemy players move away from the area and hide - rocks are a good place. You will probably die less than taking part in battles.
Once my girl and I were hunting Skyshards during Early Access. We entered one of the Skyshard caves and found all the mobs had been cleared down the tunnel; progressing through the cave in sneak mode allowed us to surprise attack 4 enemy players and wipe their party. Afterward, we continued the rest of the cave and got our shard.
Getting PK'd is a very real possibility while hunting for Skyshards. As mentioned above, sneak through enemy territory. Ideally travel with a friend or small group.
If you are heavily concerned, see if you can guest in a campaign with lower population for more general ease of travel.
Don't sweat it too much if you get killed though, it's just a part of the game.
"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." -- the 14th Dalai Lama Wisdom is doing Now that which benefits you later.
I'm level 11 and hit the PvP zones last night for the first time with a small guild group and claimed 4 skyshards by myself before it got late and had to log. Get out there and explore!:)
Depends on the campaign.
On a balanced one with lots of action, just stay off the roads between keeps and you should mostly be fine.
For unbalanced ones that are completely controlled be one faction, you want to be a part of that faction so you also have a chance to get the ones inside the enemy gates.
If you're on the opposite side, you're only hope is to sneak everywhere. Sneak makes you invisible until they are right on top of you, (put your pet away and watch out for mage light). You'll also find more players of the dominate faction exploring those locations because there's little else to do.
Camping a sky shard location usually happens in the towns. Every cave and town, and certain points of interest, should have a sky shard. You may have to deal with some strong mobs as well. In both these cases, it's best to bring a friend.
