Tips and tricks to earn Veterancy?

I despise PvP, and it never has been my fav thing to do in the game.
So I don't enjoy it.
But 100k gold, 200k tel vars, multiple stacks of Trade Bard keep me queueng.

I'm at rank 69 and it's been a grueling, multi-hour process to even earn one level each time.

I've tried queueing as my Win-Rate-Winner-Were-Wolf (disgusting of me to capitalize on bonked balance, I know).
Right now I'm trying to do a daily win on every character (to spice things up a bit), and I've noticed no difference in earning Veterancy ranks.
I've also had a day or two just running like a headless chicken in Cyrodill.

None of those methods seemed to make that bar go even a bit faster.
Even when using both Alliance and Experience scrolls didn't seem to have much of an effect, but I could be wrong.

So, what exactly contributes towards earning Veterancy?

If it's the score at the end, then it's going to be a torture last-push through 30 ranks, because a lot of the time the enemy/ally team goes AFK when the match goes badly.

Earning experience and Alliance points contribute to it. But as far as i know Experience earned should be during a PvP zone, like Cyrodiil or Imperial City.
You can maybe wander around in Imperial Sewers with Experience Scroll or Potion on and kill random mobs. Full trainee gear and Mora's Whisper mythic as well if you fancy.

Eso veterancy is account-wide, so every character playing pvp should help getting veterancy points.

The way veterancy points are calculated is not explained by ZOS.

Only that AP points give more veteran points compared to xp points earned in PvP areas like IC or Cyro.

    https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/69891

"Note that you’ll progress fastest by earning AP, however, earning XP by completing quests and slaying monsters in Cyrodiil or its capital will still move you up the ranks!"

I only do battlegrounds and I noticed the following:

-First win of the day: 44K-48K VRP
    -Every other win: 30k-34K VRP
    -Every loss: 14K-16K VRP

    More during Mayhem ofc.

    For your information:

Veterancy level 69 is exactly half-way too level 100 concerning the VRP necessary to reach this achievement.

    From
    @TheMrPancake

"Total for rank 100: 10,248,000 Veterancy Rank Points
The point requirement stops increasing at rank 50 (at 168,000) and the halfway point is rank 69

The repeatable level 101 reward is:
1x Veterancy Rewards for the Worthy (Purple)
    1x Veterancy Crafting Pouch (purple)"

XP gained in Cyrodiil delves count towards veterancy... grind the monsters in there.

Find a Cyrodiil PvP guild and learn to set up and coordinate siege at choke points. You can practice this in quieter campaigns like Blackreach or Vengeance. Defense ticks are better than offense ticks, so prioritize defending keeps/outposts and sieging as many players as possible. Once you get the hang of siege, you can invest in coldfire ballistas which are more powerful and come from dolmen farming or bought from guild trader. While defending, take back resources to increase the defense tick and burn enemy forward camps. If you're not interested in direct combat, wear utility sets like wild hunt ring to stay mobile and alive longer. You need to be in a group so your teammate kills are shared with you.

Go in a delve, wait 5 min for boss to spawn, and kill for bonus AP buff. Buy a bunch of war tortes and keep eating them.

Battlegrounds are extremely slow. Only do BG for the love of the game. If you do BGs often you'll improve your individual combat skill, but you won't get much AP compared to Cyrodiil.

Join a group in Cyrodiil, even if it’s just a random group from zone chat and run with them. Together you can take objectives faster and you’ll get more AP from killing players. Also make sure to pick up missions at your home gate. The kill 150 / 9 resources / 3 keeps don’t give a lot of AP but specific capture quests such as capture resource x or keep y give a bit more. You’ll get AP and XP at the same time and, in my experience and based on my own calculations, the combined AP and XP gained this way translates to about 1.5 veterancy rank points per 1 AP (I did not track XP separately). YMMV.

You shouldn't do what you despise just for a "reward." If it were me and I did what I despised, I would make others despite it too. By firing siege. Lots of siege.

Ap scrolls and tortes work for vet ranks
Combine these with bonuses from mayhem event (when ap scroll are usually on sale and 50% tortes are cheap) or vengeance testing bonuses....and if your team gets the hammer, drop everything and follow it...

Eat a low grade xp torte during midyear mayhem and you can get it done in less than a week. I realize that’s not helpful now since you’re starting, but it’s good information for the future and I believe they said mid year mayhem will be back on a more frequent basis. I went from 45 to 100 in about five days just from grinding battlegrounds. They are simply the best because they’re fast and even a loss gives you something like 25K during MM. I wanted to get it done since I’m gonna be shelving this game for a while so at least I have the rewards out of the way if I choose to return.

I noticed Vengeance makes it progress faster. Can't tell why. Probably a hidden modifier
Advocating for crown crates to return to the store of adult Brazilians.

I am an adult, I want to spend the money I earn on crown crates.

ZOS can comply with Brazil's legislation and still sell crown crates to adults.

Tried that for several hours and barely gained a level.
Idk if the group was good or not tho, but I had trouble keeping up to get anything.
I might try going as a healer next, if that counts as an assist and it gets some experience.

What I didn't do during that time is killing the delve boss.
    20% is sitll 20%.

Well, I also despise paying bills but I like the reward (keeping roof over my head).

Does firing siege give AP or something? xd

With AP + Major Experience (+100%) and the Delve boss buff I was getting around 911 per mob in a delve. Is this normal?
Or was I in the noob delve where you won't get much XP.

Vengeance gives a +100% base AP modifier.

But low population bonus helps a lot too.
Low pop Bonus, plus the event bonus last week, plus a +50% war torte. On the last day of the event, I managed to go from rank 95 to 100 in 2 hours of capturing keeps.

Go to Cyro and follow your faction zerg. Not much else to it, really.

Veterancy is not really worth it for the rewards, except for the cosmetics, which you can't get from elsewhere. If there is some style page you really want, then you hafta commit to a PVP grind. Everything else offered by the progression track simply isn't worth the amount of time and effort. Cool extras to get for doing what you would've done anyway, but not worth it to specifically go after.

Keep in mind that the system was designed to be slow and grindy. It is supposed to serve as 'content' for 180 days after all. If you are an avid PVP player and spend several hours each day in Cyro, then gaining the points is no big deal. Some players completed it in a month.

But assuming that you are not one of the players who regularly top the Emperor leaderboard for your faction, then getting to the end requires committing to either grinding Battlegrounds repeatedly each day, or spending an hour or two each day in Cyro during prime time. Either way, it's still going to take a lot of time, but it doesn't have to feel all that aggravating.

Remember, you do not have to win BGs to get points. So, as long as you are willing to soak the losses, all you need to do is queue for a match and then phone it in. And depending on the match type, they may end fairly quickly. Rinse and repeat. Do note that you will be souring the fun of those people in your team that are actually trying to win and are playing for real. So going Cyro is the preferable option if you are looking for an easy way to grind. And once in Cyro, what you want to go after is the various capture and defence ticks. Killing players gives more points per hour but also is a lot more stressful, so going for keeps is usually the better option.

During prime, keeps switch hands constantly, and each keep flip is usually worth about 12k veterancy points, often a lot more. If you manage to join in on capturing a couple of resources as well, taking 20k per keep capture is not difficult. Depending on how the map looks and which faction you side with, it isn't that uncommon to have a couple of really big fights occur each evening, where the ending AP tick alone is between 15k and 20k. So getting 30k+ veterancy points from one fight is not impossible or even that uncommon. These are, of course, in addition to any points you gain from kills and assists. So 2 big fights can cover half of a post 50 rank. And tagging enemy players with siege is the easiest way to get assist credit. Stock up on oil. It really helps.

Half a rank a day is obtainable in an hour or two, depending on what's happening, without too much of a headache. All you need to do is follow your faction's main concentration of players and shamelessly leech capture and def ticks. And with 82 days still remaining, there is ample time left in which to do it.

XP and AP scrolls help, but won't solve the primary issue. You need to get AP and XP from PVP activities for the scrolls to boost something, and scrolls last for a limited time. After prime time, Cyro is kinda dead, and nothing is happening except for the permanently online PVP players having endless hack-a-thons at one of the outposts. Later in the evening, it isn't that uncommon for 15 to 20 minutes to pass by without much of anything happening. So you need to be strategic about when to use boosting items. The best time to use one is when your side gets the Hammer, forms a faction stack around it, and then proceeds to paint the map mono-color. Especially if this happens late in the evening when most of the enemy players have logged off for the night. Nothing like a PVDoor rampage with the Hammer for some easy points.

Of course, if gold is not a limitation, then sure, go ahead and keep constantly eating War Tortes. Personally speaking, I do not bother with them.

Beyond that, wait for the next Mayhem event and then play each day. During the last one, I think my best haul was like 12 post 50 veterancy ranks in one evening. The increased AP gain from the event, coupled with AP and XP scrolls from Tome Page rewards, made this possible, along with the increased level of activity during the event. It was pretty easy to maintain a steady flow of AP.

Outside the event... Join a group, learn to recognise a hopeless fight, and don't waste time trying to defend a keep with 6 players against a horde of 50. PVDoor a lot. Base keep capture tick is 6k AP - so like 9k veterancy points. Do daily quests. Keep checking the map for any lit-up enemy keeps and then ride like lightning to leech the points before it flips. When abandoning the defence of a keep, make sure you are tagged on the list of tick recipients. Use a repair kit to fix a wall before you bail. Many a time have I received a def tick after abandoning a keep when the timer from the last recorded player death runs out before the flags turn. And speaking of repair kits... Buy a ton of them and then go fix walls of home keeps the moment they rank up. When the keep levels, the maximum health of walls goes up, but they won't instantly jump to the new number. They will slowly regenerate to the new maximum, and you can score points by speeding this process. It is a net AP loss since their repair kits are more expensive than the gains from repairing, but it is a painless way to rank up. Don't know if it is true, but there have been plenty of jokes about some players achieving Emperor status via this method.

So yeah, that's my take on how to get veterancy ranks with the least amount of hassle. You can't really skip the time required (outside the Mayhem Event), but you can reduce the aggravation. Just go Cyro and leech points. And during lulls in action, you can alt-tab out and watch YouTube or something.

Eat a war torte, or use one of the alliance scrolls from the track, and spam BGs. Queue for both 4v4 and 8v8 to decrease the queue time. If you're on PC and use KB/M, download the better scoreboard add on to be able to queue for multiple BG types. For some reason the functionality is only native to the gamepad UI. If you want to make it less painful, run a meta setup instead of an off meta build or else you're going to end up frustrated by dying to meta builds. Mayhem is the best time to do this, but I believe there's a deathmatch BG week coming up very soon which gives 50% bonus AP. Deathmatch is the fastest BG type, so win or lose you're going to be gaining AP fast. Don't concern yourself with losing a bunch of BGs either. It's just the nature of the BG queue RNG. Sometimes you'll get on the team that's rolled over, sometimes you'll get on the team that's doing the roll over.

I would suggest avoiding cyrodiil because it's either always dead or contested which minimizes AP gains.

Daily Battleground first win is a HUGE amount of Veterancy because you get a huge experience boost while still in the PvP zone. Experience scrolls do work for this. It's not good for earning AP, but it's good for Veterancy.

As far as non-PvP, take advantage of any dolmens you see in Cyrodiil, because even though experience contributes less to Veterancy than AP does, it's a massive amount of experience.

Other than that, I would join a zerg during primetime on your server, especially in Vengeance where siege is infinite. For Gray Host, you may really benefit from making a semi-PvP build (Negate is so helpful, or something like necro Colossus + Dark Convergence) or a tanky build or healer. Staying on the backline and sieging is majorly helpful, because siege is generaly short in PvP and earns a lot of AP. AoE heals give you AP credit for the kills of players that you heal.

Good luck! With how much time is left, daily BG and the next Mayhem should be more than enough. BG is very competitive right now, but making a good build for it helps, even a tanky healer.
