I really disliked the last Vengeance test and the Vengeance campaign. I didn't expect much improvement.
However adding sets turned out really well IMO. There is now all the build variety of GH , just lacks the CPs, but adds many possible builds on top of equal stats for all.
I even saw effective bombers, although it was more effective with a two man.
Performance is much better than GH. I usually play on a gaming desktop; when I try to play in GH on steamdeck, it can't handle it and crashes. I played all night on steamdeck and it could handle the game no problem.
Faster horses, adjusted guard strength are big improvements
I think ball groups will be able to have a distinct advantage but not be unkillable as they are in GH.
All the sets I tried worked. But you can see some sets are performing very strongly in Vengeance. Theory crafters will definitely find some things try. I have a lot of things I will want to try.
People who don't like build variety, and 1vXers probably will still not like Vengeance. There is a definite skill ceiling that expert players will not like. But the big battles were very fun.
4 GOs, 2 Generals, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP over the last 9 years
