PlayStation 5 Patch Error Issue

    Feedback:

...so.3.5 hours later. It worked, the audio and video areas were reset in the settings, I just logged out and logged in briefly. My 3 small addons remained (all Murph's something) of course I don't know what happens to the big ones that need something else. I thought about deleting the cloud too, but didn't.

Before logging in, i turned off the Playstation completely, waited a bit and turned it on again.

Wow, it's all really annoying. Was that a farewell greeting from the dismissed employees or one from microsoft just against PS EU (put on aluminum hat, conspiracy theory)

    😖😖😖

I just set everything to download not automatically and install myself. Next time I update I'll check the forums to see if there's any drama like that again. Before I click install.

    Hrmpf. 👿

Have automatic updates on. So I guess it downloaded and installed it, as it always does. Looked weird when I first turned the game. Closed it out and restarted and it seems fine. Hold off on redownloading the whole game for now as it seems to work fine.

More information on the error would be nice and frankly expected. Just saying it's bad delete and reinstall is not enough information.

Thanks for letting us know. A suggestion, could this and posts like it please show up in the dev tracker? ☺️

Hey there! This looks like it's pulling into the Dev Tracker for me, but if you're seeing otherwise please let me know.

This may be showing up in the DevTracker on the website, but that is not being pushed to the Discord feed. Just FYI.

So we went from last year not being able to persist our save data and having to sever our cloud save data to relying on that save data to not have to configure all of our addons once again.

Let me see if I have these steps correct.

    1. Uninstall ESO

    That correct?

SO will wonders never cease, somehow I had turned off auto download and don't have the patch! Yah!

But is it there waiting to bite me the next time I update? What actually caused the problem? If it patch was installed why does reinstalling the game fixit? Was there a good patch to the game installed but the bad patch wouldn't let it install? (Likely I think) It would be nice to have more of an explanation.

Honestly it's not the first time this happens. I think some sort of compensation should be given. Some people had to download it multiple times for it to work again.

It's not some small mistake. Downloading 140+ GB is ridiculous.

I have two accounts on my PS5 for ESO. I only log into the alt once a week. Today was that day, and despite having had my PS5 on for most of yesterday, the alt account had the bad patch in the download queue.

I got it deleted, and didn't have to re-install, but just giving a heads up that this edge case exists and might catch people off-guard.

When the patch came out yesterday, I was playing ESO on my main, and saw the warning before I logged off, so I was able to delete the download from my main account.

Is the new patch safe to download and install for PS5 users.

I think so. My PS5 downloaded and installed the patch while the PS/NA server was down earlier, and I was doing other stuff. And when the PS/NA server came back to life, I was able to login, read my mail, claim my daily login tomes.

Your “stuff” is stored server-side so you don’t lose any characters, gear, etc from uninstalling the game. You’ll likely just need to re-adjust your game settings again like guild text chat colors, stuff like that. And you’ll have to reinstall any add-ons you had downloaded.

But a game uninstall/reinstall does not affect online progression like that. Your toons and such are there until the day the servers die, basically.

some of you all need better internets - 40 minutes to download and another 5 to install, it took me longer to re download my add-ons and recreate my setting, which days later i am still not convinced are correct as i find the game doing quirky things it didn't before, to the point where I have expanded some of my own addons to do what I want when i know i had an addon that did the same thing, probably better if the setting were the same but I just cant replicate it.

i am little concerned that this patch was pushed and survived Sonys own QA and arrived at our consoles - both parties failed us in my eyes. still deleting and downloading was actually good as it also removed redundant code left over from the many many patches we have had over ten years and my file size is significantly smally at 130 than the previous 186 it was reportedly showing. so maybe this is something we should do one a year

"Some of you all" don't have access to better internets. Or can't afford it. Comments like this are as unwelcome as those dissing console players. People play how they want, or can afford to, and it's not our place to judge that.

Precisely. Not to mention some folks have data caps as well.

Not to mention, PSN's regional traffic control leaves a lot to be desired. Two players with identical service will often see drastically different network performance on a day to day basis. Today player A may be clocking speeds 5x as fast as player B. Tomorrow player A will be trudging along at 1/0th the speed of player B. More often than not it's not the internet service connection slowing it down, but rather it's getting bottlenecked at PSN.

I've had great download and install speeds on my PS5. And I've had some that have taken the better part of an entire work day.
