Question about Thorn's Bite Withersteed

I didn't see the final fragment for the Thorn's Bite Withersteed at the Impressario. In fact, I wasn't looking for them but I'm not sure whether the previous fragments are there, either. Do these sorts of fragments for event collectibles only drop from the once-per-day golden event coffers now?

Impresario currently has the 1st 2 fragments. The final fragment has a small chance to drop (free) from the daily gold event box. At a guess all 3 will be available from the Impresario for trade bars next event

The “you get a chance of getting a fragment” addition is for what will be stocked at the impressiaro next event. Chance of getting it this event, guaranteed purchasable at the next event.

Okay, thank you. I suspected that the other fragments might have been there, but anything I've already collected is darkened out so it's harder to see, and I didn't specifically look for them last night when I was on.

I'm not sure whether I like this new way of doing it. I can see pros and cons to this change, but not being able to just buy the newest fragment means that if RNG is against you for the entire event and you don't get the newest fragment from any of the golden coffers, you will have to wait until the next event before being able to get that fragment by buying it.

That's right. It's what they did for the first two fragments.

In my experience (across both servers and alt accounts) is that the drop rate is pretty high. If you're getting a gold box everyday, you're almost certain to get it.

The tooltip on the last fragment says it will be available during the Witches Festival. Are those of us with bad luck really going to have to wait four months for it?

Yes. I don't like this way of doing it either, even though I got the fragment for this event (and another fragment dropped for me during the last event). I don't see the point of doing it this way except to frustrate people.

In theory I like the idea of being able to get the item for free (well, for time investment alone) and only needing to pay trade bars if we skip the event where it first drops.

But seeing it play out really drives home how much this relies on the drop being reliable. In previous events I got the drop pretty quickly, within the first day or two. It’s taking longer now. If they guaranteed it, whether it’s free or not would not be a matter of RNG but a proper reward for investment in the game.

The way the system seems to work currently is to punish people with poor RNG further by making them pay trade bars. It rewards people with good RNG by relieving them of that cost. We’ve been over the pain points of RNG with limited attempts over and over. It’s a shame they keep circling back to it as a tactic regardless.

I'd be more okay with it if the fragment was also available from the impresario during the event it drops. That way people can try for it, and buy it on the last day if it hasn't dropped for them. I don't think it's great that someone who isn't blessed by the RNG gods during the event has to wait so long for an opportunity to buy it.

I got it pretty quickly on one server, like maybe on the second day.

I don't even remember if I got it on the other server yet.

I do lnow that my RNG luck on PCEU usually tends to be better than on PCNA, which can be a pain since PCNA is my primary server. But during the first several days on the event I got the waist (sash?) page for the new style, followed by-- wait for it-- three consecutive duplicates of that page, whereas on PCNA I was getting new pages on most days.

I received the 3rd Fragment from the Gold Zenithar box. Not sure how I got the first 2 fragments. I was quite delighted to see I finished the steed.

This is very confusing for everyone!

I actually unlocked the mount on all of my accounts during the last event.

When somebody in one of my guilds linked the part that had just dropped for them, I was shocked to see mention of the Witches Festival when viewing the item!

What was even weirder was the fragment dropped for him BUT like me he already had the mount unlocked.

@ZOS_Kevin can you shed any light on what on earth is going on!??
