Hey everyone, is it just me, or are ESO cinematics seriously missing?
If we’re really heading to Winterhold next year, I want to make a genuine appeal to ZeniMax: Skyrim is the PERFECT setting for a cinematic aimed at a
broader audience. And I’m not even saying this as a fan, I’m thinking purely in terms of growth and visibility.
Cinematics have always been some of ESO’s biggest reach drivers. They pull in millions of views, while gameplay trailers usually sit in the thousands. Just look at High Isle:
over 11 million views on YouTube. Meanwhile,
the E3 gameplay trailer didn’t even hit 60k. That gap is massive.

I'm not talking about replacing gameplay trailers: they’re important. But cinematics are what hook people in. They’re what make someone stop scrolling and think,
“Wait, what is this?” There’s a reason every major MMORPG leans into them. They’re not REALLY that optional—they’re a core part of how these games stay relevant and
keep growing.
Going against that trend doesn’t feel bold,
it feels a little like fading into the background.
So here’s a simple ask, ZOS: please consider bringing back a full cinematic for the
Season of Skyrim. I don’t know if there’s still time, but honestly, it could do a lot to boost interest, especially with this new phase the game seems to be entering.
And yeah, speaking as a fan for a second… I really miss that annual hype. Waiting for the cinematic, watching it frame by frame, sharing screenshots, talking about it with friends, it was an event.
It feels like ESO lost a piece of its identity there, and that’s kind of a shame.
