Possibly obvious Night Market district question

So forgive me if this is silly to ask, but I just started the Night Market and I'm kind of confused about how player presence/instances work there.

For context: I usually play with my partner, and as many other players we first tried to go into one of the districts because upon opening the event menu/progress I saw that there was a Skirmish there.

The zone, Sorrow's Friend, was totally devoid of players. We aren't new to the game, but we still got kind of destroyed a few fights in.We waited around because we assumed it's like a public dungeon and players can just show up, but nobody ever did. We ended up going back to the hub and getting into a group, and that of course made the event doable. But we also didn't see any other large groups either. Are there just not enough players on to be visible in the three zones (PC EU), or are the districts instanced somehow?

It’s 36 total players maximum across all 3 districts and the plaza. That’s probably the problem.

yeah i noticed the same - the only zone that had people was the first one, both other zones had basically 0 players, it was like i got my own instance

Oh I see, thank you for explaining! That's a bit of a shame, the instance being shared between all three districts and the hub, but I suppose it had to be done somehow. Makes me wish it was possible to like, cycle through the instances to find one where the map you need is active lol - but I guess just getting a group in group finder solves that too.

that seems way not enough for 3 districts outside of organized groups...imo the max number should be 3 times that

Group finder is the key to doing this. And when you join a group it will probably tell you the group is in another instance. You port to them and seemingly go nowhere but now you are in that group’s instance. Have fun!

Thank you for the tip! I ended up doing just that, and that's when it hit me how many instances of the Night Market there probably are, which then made the whole "Why are there only five players running around here" thing make sense lol. If nothing else maybe it will get people more used to Group Finder, since at times I wish it was a touch more active.
