Tamriel Tome - Community Concern/Suggestion For Devs

Hello! Ideally, a Dev or two will see and relay this if it's not already known and covered. I will keep it "concise". *For my standards ;P*

Many members in the community have great concern of "Slashed Rewards" when the new system lands under the narrative of "ZoS wants to give us less free things, and force more transactions." Despite it seemingly being the opposite in 2026.
And while the current Gold Pursuit helps quell that a bit with Seals, there are many people upset about non premium gold value rewards like the crafting materials and raw gold missing and using that as a "Ha see! Told ya so!" confirmation of their argument.

But more importantly, there is not clarity with what's seen on PTS or any way to guarantee nothing will change about Seal currency counts in the Tome's in future seasons and how much you will get per month compared to the old system in perpetuity.

What I want to avoid, is having the doomsayers be right. I am actually really enjoying how positive I can openly and honestly be right now, even more than usual. And it would be an absolute bummer to hand over an extremely simple win, with no true gain in doing so. Even if it's with something as petty as gold crafting mats. They are struggling with change, and it will be majorly softened if they truly feel like not only was nothing lost. But even better if they even got more, simply for playing. (Without the premium upgrade as a caveat)

I assume you guys already know this, and are not planning on reducing rewards. As in "The Elder Scrolls Online - 2026 Reveal" at 42:10 Gina already claimed in the stream that: "We are not taking away any rewards for completing things in-game, like the dungeon hard modes, or doing quests or what have you. This is just going to be another way for everyone to earn different types of rewards by doing various activities." And Susan Kath at 21:47 mentions: 8,000 earn-able Seals in at least Season 0, which the math checks out and is actually a bit higher than the old system. So if we can get a solid answer about this remaining around the "minimum" in the future for the free Tomes, I think we are in the clear there.

And I do believe this will be the case almost entirely, I just want to ensure you stick the landing and even exceed it if possible! <3

Thanks ZoS Dev Team. Love what y'all are doing in 2026 and I look forward to being the cringe cheerleader I enjoy being lmao, if the results continue to allow.

ZOS would be foolish to publish a statement saying "nothing will ever change".

Maybe not literally "never". But people believe this is a very fast bait and switch. They aren't talking like 2-3 years down the line.

It's in their best interest to make the initial roll-out really rewarding. I just hope these Tomes are rewarding long-term. But I fully expect future seasons and Tomes to be less rewarding. They did this with Endeavors, which eventually settled at a slower pace of rewards. I expect this to mature in a similar way. Time will tell though.

This new model makes sense for them financially, didn't really seem like content was selling as well anymore. The good thing is we don't have to buy these Tomes to play the game. It doesn't feel good to miss out on attractive cosmetics, but I'm sure I'll survive.

They've done that with everything tbh, they start things high and then go downhill quick. First few months of login rewards were full of mounts and crown crates.

Even crown crates haven't been immune, there's more filler like generic furnishings and old stuff, and the drop rates are getting worse and worse. I can get one of the 25 packs now and not get any gold rewards other than an experience scroll

Without a doubt things are changing for the worse.

They are trying to assure everyone that things will remain the same while simultaneously talking about cutting everything back dramatically because they can’t meet deadlines for releases.

The freebies have to continue to decline in value by comparison to paid content or they’re not gonna get the money they need from the few of us still here.

You're absolutely right. I would think they'd want the goodwill of their players. I would think they'd want to dispel the monetization criticisms. If anything, it seems like they double down on it instead. IMO, the game should be as rewarding as it was during the Anniversary celebration. Baseline. I feel like they'd sell more, retain more, and be more widely celebrated. Instead, we have the history we have.

I guess we'll see how these tomes look by the end of the year or early next year.
