Magical Theft Beam...

So, I was doing my rounds stealing sweet rolls out of bags and crates, in the Ebonheart temple this time.
Suddenly, while looting a sack, a magical beam of light struck my character for a split second.
There was no notification, no special item that I can tell in my inventory, no achievement, and essentially no sign that anything significant had happened.
Has anybody else encountered this? It happened too fast for me to screenshot.
