*Request* - Hand to Hand Skill line

I would like ESO to have a hand to hand combat line as per the other Elder Scrolls game.

Currently its a compromise as you lose a bonus by unslotting items in the weapons slots so you can use your fists as a weapon.

I know this is been discussed many times previously but this could add another fun element to the game

Here are some possible ideas

1 - Hide weapons, perhaps as a thing to purchase like hide shoulders from the event ticket vendor
2 - Gauntlets or knuckle dusters added to sets
3 - Some other Jewelry item or extra ring set / slot for unarmed.
4 - Add throwing weapons, such as shurikens etc.
5 - An arena for bare knuckle fighting with a weekly leaderboard / rewards

Perhaps there should be a damage reduction for unarmed in some players view as battle axe is going to do more damage than a fist, but most sets say "when you do damage" etc so it seems a pity to lose out on that just because you've not got some weapon slotted.

I made a spiderman build but it looks rather naff carrying a staff or weapon, however you either lose a monster set or another set bonus. There's a monster set that suits the spiderman set up, but then you lose the option of using another 5 piece set. This is just an example of how it is a compromise, but there's other players before who've suggested this before.

If anyone else has some suggestions, lets hear it!

2 - Gauntlets or knuckle dusters added to sets
3 - Some other Jewelry item or extra ring set / slot for unarmed.
4 - Add throwing weapons, such as shurikens etc.

Any additional set items is going to get you massive pushback by the community. It means re-farming a lot of content.

Completely negligible problem. Player OCD can't really be a justification for anything.

I agree and i'm aware of that already. but its about the idea as a whole, not about focusing on one point. You've not commented about the other suggestions or whether you think its a good idea or not.

    How about adding some suggestions?

If you just want to roleplay with an unarmed build, I made one with Oakensoul + Sergeant Mail based on Heavy Punches XD - it worked fine letting me solo even base game World Bosses; you won't be able to compete or achieve greatness tho...

For roleplay reasons I decided to slot the Deep Meditation from Psijic; I think it used Lotus Blossom (but the morph that heals two targets) and Growing Swarm.

Can't remember other details (I deleted that build) but it was before scribing and subclassing, so I think better things could be achieved now: Swarm has a nocturnal style; there are Soul Burst, Banner Bearer, Contingency and Trample; even Fatecarver with the "galaxy" style would work; also subclassing means you could opt for forming a gang of NPCs XD

    Have fun! :)

Yeah, let's just let the game stagnate and die instead. Right, guys? /s

So... a reason to get players to go back to old content and make old zones/dungeons/trials populated again?

From a player standpoint: slightly annoying.
From a developer standpoint: OMG GREAT WAY TO INCREASE OUR NUMBERS!

This is one of those cases where the benefit to the game may be worth the annoyance.

Yes, please! Unarmed is so fun in the single player games. I actually wouldn't care if it didn't have a weapon style, actually. They'd probably just be modified gloves anyway.

I’d love an unarmed fighting style inspired by Muay Thai, Shaolin Wushu, Kyokushin. It would be perfect for my East Asian (Imperial) Dragonknight. 🥋🔥

It could be done in a way that makes it a benefit.

Just off the top of my head, reconstruction cost could stay the same for existing set items but reduce another 5 with the extra piece.

It's not like when they added perfected maelstrom weapons and it took dozens of runs to maybe get what you needed, we have curation now.

Regardless of that, I'd much prefer a new weapon line to be something that fits more with magicka - I know with hybridisatuon it's viable to use traditionally stam weapons, but it would be nice to have something that works more thematically. It feels bad for my magic users to have to run around with greatswords!

My wishlist for weapons in order that I place in importance:
    - One handed weapons: as in true 1 handed, not 1 and shield, etc. Most people only use one sword or one dagger anyways.
    - one handed and spell
    - spears: I find it annoying that the most commonly used weapon in history is missing from the game.
    - unarmed
    - crossbows
    - conjuration staffs

It would never work with this game. Why because I don't like it? No. It's because in end game PvP you don't dare let anyone get close enough to punch you. Why? Cause they'll use macros or super-animation cancel and unload incap with about 5 or 6 additional attacks in a fraction of a second.

You'd be dead several times over before you can pull one punch. PvE folks wouldn't want it either because lightning staff.

    These are must-become-reality

    - Brass knuckles -> Uses "Duel wield" skill line but; has unique animations. This seems only possible way to implement hand-to-hand style without breaking the game.
    - Crossbows -> Uses "Bow" skill line but; has different animations.
    - Polearms -> Uses "Two-handed" skill line but; has unique animations.
    - Wands -> Uses either "Destruction staff" or "Restoration staff" skill line but; has unique animations.

To sum up, implementation of these weapons does not bring new mechanics. It only aesthetically alters weapons which probably would please both developers and gamers at the same time. (For developers there is no game-breaking nonsense. For gamers; new weapons are acquired eventhough they are technically already-existing weapons with illusion. It is like 'polymorph'ing a weapon in a sense. They look different but; are still same.)

Unarmed combat would still require something in that slot as we can see evidence by poe2.

You need the hallowed palm technique skill gem to play unarmed monk in that game, the loss of weapon works cause of the strength that gem lends.

I think in eso this would work by simply a passive buffing up your unarmed attacks and the buffing going away if you have a weapon equip and you can't use unarmed abilities
