What kind of decorator are you?

I was going to make this a poll but there are too many choices and I didn't want to leave any out. But what kind of decorator are you?

Do you go for realism?
Cozy homes?
Fancy palaces?

Do you prefer indoor or outdoor spaces?
Bright and cheerful?
Dark and menacing?

Do you prefer already built structures?
Or would rather construct your own?

What is your favorite way to build and decorate?

I have a little bit of everything but what ties my houses together is that they’re all lore-based. Either one of my characters lives there or I have a concept in mind for who would. My favorite to decorate are inn rooms because they’re so small. It’s easier to throw in some big furniture pieces and lots of clutter when its just one room.

I go for realism. I've been told more than once that my houses look like they belong in Tamriel, which is what I'm going for.

I've built a couple of homes from the ground up but prefer already constructed buildings.

All of my characters have their own homes. But I also have different types of places, such as a doctor's office, a public library, a food market, a game room and beer garden, a massage parlor, a fortune teller shop, a museum and tea garden, a Dark Brotherhood training compound, as well as country and beach getaways, and 2 luxury retreats for the elite of Tamriel, just to name a few. And one of my houses is being attacked by aliens.

I prefer to make already constructed homes look like they could realistically exist in Tamriel. I furnish and decorate them according to the culture and history of whichever of my characters they belong to, or at least I try to!

I do really admire the creative building choices other players make, and I've enjoyed touring their homes, but I just don't have it in me to construct something like that from scratch.

I have mostly done decorating of existing houses for realism up to this point, even keeping the interior decor to match the style of the house. It’s an exercise for me to represent the style the best way I can, as a residence for a character that would live there.

I have done one custom build that I am very happy with, I spent a lot of time in game looking at the area in which I drew my inspiration from, to try to flesh it out and make it look like it belongs in the game as well. I always wanted a house that resided in the Bthar-Zel area, or any Markarth house in the Blackreach area, but ZOS never gave us one, so I made my own. I hope to be able to do more in the future. If I do not get a Solstice beachfront empty lot to build a Tide-Born dwelling on, or a house that I can decorate or build upon, then I would like that, or even a custom zanmeer if we have enough parts to do that.

I decorated like a hoarder. I dump all my stuff in piles. Sometimes I make them so I can reach the crafting tables and bed.

In my psijic villa I have all my furniture in the courtyard.

I have done "Tamriel Style" houses BUT I also like building houses from other Realms or just weird ideas that take my fancy!

I did a "Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" build at Grand Topal Island, it was built entirely over the sea portion of the house, I really enjoyed doing it!

It also has Mr Tumnus's house and a wintery feel, the last shot is the White Witch's Castle in the background with Aslan watching over it all...... although off in the distance the cost of the ice effect on that castle was horrendous! :o

I still don't show my build's usually so hope it looks ok!

    Thank you <3

My main character's have more traditional homes, well to my mind, my Vampire sorc, my original main but now my crafter and decorator has Ebonheart Chateaux as their base.

My current and probably always my main, a Templar, has Stillwater's as their base, she has a gambling problem.

My Arcanist, rarely used but seriously weird has Doomchar as their base, she is a collector of dreams.

If I build a house for a specific character there is always a written backstory, I enjoy the writing of those a lot! Often it is just a good way to explain my slightly odd builds!

Autumm's Gate in the Rift is titled Shroomville and is my Khajiit's home.... there might be "bite marks" in the shrooms, she;s trying to kick Skooma :D
