For the last five years, our guild has had a social evening in the Arena District of Imperial City. Starting at 4 p.m. EST, we take over the district and hold it until 8 p.m., shooting the breeze, telling dad jokes, and talking about trials, dungeons and our planned Sunday morning run in Cyrodiil. We don't go anywhere. We stay in Arena, fending off any who try to take the district from us. For the most part, we've held it every Saturday night for five years.Sure, bomber ball groups would come through, as well as sweaties, try-hards, and enemy guilds to try and push us out. A few times, they got the flag, but we always got it back.
Four out of those five years were good ones. Big groups of reds and blues came down to fight. I mean, it's not a secret that we're there. A lot of players on the PS network know that we hang out there on a regular basis, so those fights were epic. Huge battles, with 40 to 50 players among all three alliances whopping on each other and having a good time doing it.
That was for four years out of five. For the last year, however, give or take a few months, Imperial City has been boring. I blame it on the change to key fragments. Used to be, key fragments sold in guild traders for 15,000 to 20,000 a stack. But the change putting them right into our inventory as a bound currency took that away. Coincidentally, the population in Imperial City dropped off dramatically shortly after that adjustment. We still get the occasional bomber or ganker but not often. For the last eight months or so, it's been quiet in Arena District. Boring and quiet.
At least until Vengeance came along as the only Cyrodiil option. The Saturday before last, when the pvp players were looking for something other than Vengeance, a group of about 20 blues and 10 reds showed up to challenge us for the district. Most of them were Cyrodiil regulars: bombers, a couple of ball groups, sweaties, try-hards, and a couple of gankers.
We lost the flag briefly around 4:30 p.m., but got it shortly thereafter and held it for the rest of the evening against a constant onslaught of blues and reds. It was awesome.
Last Saturday, though, two days ago, it was back to the boring. Gray Host was back as an option and it was full, and Imperial City was empty. It was then that I realized Vengeance is good for Imperial City.
Sunday mornings, from about 5 a.m. EST to noon, we fight in Gray Host on the NA Playstation server. If you're blue or red, come find us. We enjoy a fight.
And if you're really bored, bring your best bombers and ball groups to Imperial City on a Saturday night. We'll fight you for the flag
