WIll I lose ESO if I stop my Microsoft Ultimate Gamepass?

Just had an email today saying the Microsoft Ultimate Gamepass is going up to £22 (from £14 - [snip]?) and I'm not going to be paying that. But ... I play ESO on Gamepass and I don't think it's on the lowest Gamepass sub.
I'm fully expecting to not be able to play ESO once my Ultimate finishes but if I buy the standalone disk - will I keep my character or will I have to start from scratch?

✭✭✭✭✭Your characters are stored on ESO's servers, not XBox's.
If you stop paying Gamepass, you will need to buy ESO as a standalone game, but your account and characters will still be there once you do, provided you are still playing on an XBox.0 -
carlos424✭✭✭✭✭If you are on xbox, don’t you need some sort of gamepass subscription to play online? You use to need xbox gold, then they made everybody get gamepass. Not sure if it’s still a thing, but worth checking out before making decisions. I might just do that. I already downgraded from ultimate to standard, then they renamed it and raised prices again. Not sure what else I might lose access to in the process though. Still, it seems like voting with our wallets is the only meaningful way to protest.0
