With subclassing now a core part of the game, pure classes are falling behind. The problem isn't just numbers -- it's identity. Players who stick to a single class for the sake of theme or roleplay are paying a power tax, while those who mix and match skill lines get access to optimal damage, healing and utility.
That's a huge issue, because a lot of people don't play this game to min-max spreadsheets -- they play it to live out a power fantasy. The assassin who strikes from the shadows. The stalwart knight who embodies unshakable defense. These archetypes are iconic, but subclassing chips away at them, leaving "thematically pure" builds weaker and less rewarding.
Capstone perks could fix that. By rewarding players who commit fully to a single class, the system could restore parity between pure builds and hybrids. More importantly, it would protect the fantasy at the heart of these archetypes. Subclassing has opened new doors, but without capstones, it risks closing the ones that made players fall in love with their class in the first place.
In my mind, these perks could be as simple as access to Class Sets and Class Scripts.
