For weeks I am unable to access the game with Steam Launcher, complaint everywhere but none of the solution provided work for me... So I thought I wait for U47, it will surely be fixed... no such luck... Shame on developers and Steam for not addressing numerous complaints that the game is not accessible for a certain PC configuration....

BTW, the Epic Game Launcher works without fail, so it definitely an issue of the Steam specific Launcher!

If it keeps just shutting down after displaying "updating" you need to completely uninstall ESO and remove any trace of the game, then reinstall.

That includes the folder: C:\ProgramData\Elder Scrolls Online
and C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Elder Scrolls Online.

I renamed my eso folder in documents (where your addons go) then copied my addons back after reinstall. Only copied the addons folder, left the rest out.

Keep in mind, this may affect your epic launcher install.

I had this happen on both windows 10 and windows 11 and it was the only way to fix it.
