Alcast Heavy attack Sorcerer + Assasination subclass build

Hello,

I haven't played in a while and would like to get some tips.

What is your opinion on Alcast heavy attack Sorcerer (pets) + Assasination subclass build.
Im using the True one bar with Deadly Strikes and Sergeant mail set + Oakensoul ring + Maw of Infernal.
Maybe im doing something wrong but it just not spectacular when it comes to damage. I've tested it on a simple 6 mil dummy and combat metrics showed a little over 30k DPS.
It is very comfortable for daily questing but I don't see myself pulling anything decent in vet dungeons with this set.


Perhaps there is a better way to handle that. Let me know what you think, Thanks!

That will only work with 13 equipment slots. 😅
Can you take a closer look and post what's really going on with the build? I kind of doubt that Alcast would make such a mistake.

Anyway. Deadly Strike is not optimal for a heavy attack build. EDIT: I just looked it up: the permanent daedric pets are NOT damage over time. Thus, using Deadly Strike is a really big goof. There is a DoT portion of the Heavy Attack, but that is imo not enough to use a 5 piece bonus for just that.

Have you perhaps read the recent threads about pet builds? They pretty much fit what you describe.

Generally, there are three sets to pair Sergeant's Mail with for a good HA build. Noble's Duelist, Undaunted Unweaver and Storm Master. I prefer Noble, but I have you stay in melee range for it. Ward helps with that

Off Balance is a big damage boost for HA builds. If you have access to an on demand Off Balance skill, you might have to rethink your armour choice. For example Bone Tyrant has the Scythe. Animal Companions has birds. But for birds to work you'll have to be 7m+ away from the target, which means no Noble Duelist.

This is just a quick opinion. After a brief look at that page and build, it seems like there are a few things that are off. At a guess, something was overlooked when the page was updated. As mentioned above, there aren't enough slots to get the full benefit of the Oaken, Sergeant's, Deadly, and Maw. The build picture also throws in a maelstrom staff as well. Possibly there was a mix-up when substituting Voidmantle in for Oakensoul? In addition, the "One button" video shows a number of different skills in active use. That aside, if you look at the one button parse, an awful lot of damage is coming from using Overload during the off balance phases. I bet that's hard to accomplish in actual content. For now, I'd consider another build source.

That said, you'll can get 40+ K on the 6M dummy and close to 100K on the trial dummy with an Oakensorc subclassed build*. I see them, and have used them, in vet dungeons and trials. In the groups I run with (we're competent but not sweaty), heavy attack sorcs tend to do okay, not bottom of the DPS, but not top either. I see 5 piece Sergeants combined with Oakensoul, 1 piece Maw (or other crit) and ... something. Order's wrath does well. As do the sets mentioned above.

A one bar voidmantle heavy attack build will out parse sergeants with some additional complexity. But, you lose some survivability.

*edit: 100K as you'd actually run it in content

Yeah, I just checked that page. It is full of inconsistencies and errors.
It will probably be changed soon. At least it should.

I mean, it increase the damage of DoT and channeled attack. Lightning staves' heavies are chanelled, and since it's by far the biggest item in your parse, damage-wise, it makes sense to boost it.

I don't see how to replace deadly strike, actually.

Well, true. Lightning staves' heavies are chanelled. And so Daedly Strike boosts it damage by 15%. Only 15%!
The way Sergeant's Mail and the other sets work, is that they boost the base damage of all heavy attacks. That base damage gets used multiple times within the formula. As a result sets like Sergeant's Mail can boost damage of heavy attacks by 80% to 100% per 5 piece bonus.

And if you look at what skills Alcast has listed for use, you will only find one DoT! One. And only in the fake one bar build. In the true one bar build there is no DoT. Remember, Daedric pets aren't DoTs.

I still say that this build is full of inconsistencies. And advertisements ...

Well, I'll try to slap something else on and parse, to check that out. That 15% is still on the skill that does 80% of the damage, though. I'll let you know if duelist is indeed better.

Just want to point out the 5pc Deadly, 5 pc Sergeant’s, 1 pc Slimecraw, and Oakensoul is possible. There was no goof on that end.

That said, I’ve used this build. And it’s not good. I get where Alcast was coming from. But there are so many better options out there.

I don't think its even Alcast posting these builds anymore. He stopped doing videos and stuff a long time ago.

Heavy attack builds will also have a built-in DPS loss due to the heavy attack bug. Heavy attacks will often do no damage, fail to start, or cancel on their own. Good luck.

That's the setup I use, but with rakkhat's void mantle instead of oakensoul. I do have to bring my own empower, but it performs quite well, at 120k. I can get a little more, I reckon, by replacing my heavy sergent chest with a medium deadly one, and replacing a deadly ring with a seargent, I suppose. But probably very little.

And no, I actually lose a little. That's what's great with this game. Turns out the 2% max mag I loose to undaunted mettle has a greater impact than the 2% spelldamage I get from wearing an additionnal medium armor. This game is delightfully complicated !
