This, all the data from your game like Inventory and stats is stored on the servers.ESO doesn't have "Auto-Save". It's an MMORPG. None of them have auto-save. Your progress is always synchronized with the server, but there's no way to "load" any previous state.

Now its addons who do save like one who keep track of Inventory on all your characters other tracking sales and they have to save data locally

That is factually incorrect. ESO does have an autosave, and that autosave actually caused issues originally for porting addons to console. I'm not sure if it saves add-on settings, but it might be the case if more people are getting it now

No it does NOT. Addone developers are consitally reminding users that there is no "Save" button in there addons. The only time it saves is /reloadui or logout. This mean if you crash after 5 hours of gaming, you lose all that data from combat, lotlog, and other data addons add for you.

Console has a local 'autosave' file that includes things like configuration variables. If I delete that local file on my PS5 I have to redo my settings like enemy and friendly AOE colour, preferences for music and so on. This is the file that is having issues. It seems to be written to whenever you do things in the menu - even when I was enchanting a piece of armour and then popping back one menu level it pops up the save file error if you are having it
Nothing in that reply was condescending in the slightest. It was just a statement, and nothing more.Charden2016 wrote: »@Aliniel Obviously. But localizations ARE saved periodically. If data becomes corrupted then it restores to the last stable 'saved setting' (which I think is why my addons keep resetting).
The game itself is calling this an autosave feature.
If you're going to be condescending, at least be helpful.
... that is an addon developer you're talking to. Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter ring any bells?Techwolf_Lupindo wrote: »"That is factually incorrect. Anyone found a fix/workaround for this yet?
Started happening to me this morning after the auto repair addon needed an update and an additional lib file. Uninstalled them both and restarted everything but it hasn't helped
DenverRalphy wrote: »Not to send bad vibes or anything.. But in my experience when this starts happening, it's usually a sign of the drive storage starting to fail.
Most recently it happened to me pretty much daily before I had to replace the old consoles with a new. I sometimes had some success reformating and reinstalling to isolate the failing portions of the drive. But the dominoes were falling.
After replacing the console altogether, problem gone.
By no means am I saying that this is what is going on in this instance. But it's something to keep in mind.

What was the Lib file? Do you remember? It seems to be a data corruption issue or and interruption of communication of localized save files. I've deleted all my addons, then deleted my saved data, then reinstalled the game, in that order, and the issue still persists. Apparently this is happening on Xbox too and was a known issue when porting addons to console.

Thank you, read the article and it confirms what I suspected, we have to delete the save file.
I REALLY didn't want to do that, because it means I'll have to try to set 5 Guild chat colours on 20 characters and get them readable and something like the same colours with just that stupid wheel. Honestly want to cry at the thought of it!
I dont suppose there's an addon that can be ported over that'll copy them for me?

Why not just replace drive? New console seems like overkill. I know installing an SSD in PS4 was incredibly simple. I would assume replacing the PS5 drive would be easy.

Well, no, it actually does have autosave. While I was referring specifically to console, which has a different auto save, ESO does have an auto save on PC as well, although it's (relatively) new. On PC, the autosave is infrequent, and cannot be reliably influenced by addons. It occurs during load screens. So if you crash after 5 hours of gaming, you'll actually only lose some data. There's other limits though, including size, so some big data addons will lose stuff.
However, for console, which is what this thread is about, there is a much more prolific autosave going on. That autosave is apparently called, something like nearly every time you open or close a menu. And again, it caused issues for various add-on devs when we were developing the console addons.
Anyway, ZOS is aware of the issue and is looking into it.
The solution is to delete your game data (not the game itself)
This doesn’t affect anything to do with your actual eso account.
Source: me; had the same issue. Also second source; me, a PlayStation expert.
