New furnishing plans Abysmal drop rate.

Has anyone else noticed just how terrible the drop rate for new furnishing plans are in solstice? You can farm for hours and hours and only get already known base game trash recipes. the drop rate for the new plans are absolutely horrid.

Is this some kind of bug or is this intended for new furnishing plans? Ive only gotten a couple looted furnishing plans so far whereas for murkmire plans for example, i can usually get at least one every other thieving run. its all just base game junk plans.

I'd just like to know if there's a/what is the cooldown on the algae-laden packs you get from fishing. I pulled a Plant, Pineapple furnishing from one, and the second only had a single rune in it as I opened them in quick succession.

    Yes, it's worse than abyssmal. It's total black hole-void devouring-never be seen-abyssmal.

I've been harvesting every node that I've come across.

    Furnishing plans? 0
    Furniture? 0

    Been doing antiquities.

    Furnishing plans? 1

    Been stealing and pickpocketing.

    Furnishing plans? 0
    Furniture? 2

Been fishing - never finished the fishing achievement faster than this time around.

    Packs fished up: 4
    Furnishing plans? 0
    Furniture? 0
Instead I got 1 grey rune in each, and one crafting material for the new style.

Been doing the dailies for the solstice reward crates.

    Furnishing plans? 0
    Furniture? 0

Been opening every treasure chest that I've found so far.

    Furnishing plans? 0
    Furniture? 1

Been opening every urn and sack and container (especially in the Broken Light Temple).

    Furnishing plans? 0
    Furniture? 0

So... @ZOS_Kevin , if this is how ZOS wants to actively DIScourage its customers, then you're doing an absolutely smashing job of it... >.>

Not justifying the practice, just pointing out the fact that it has been this way for as long as I can remember and the exceedingly rare occasions when furnishing plans were forthcoming it was an 'oopsie' on their part and they patched it pronto.

Personally I gave up on finding them in the wild, absolute waste of time, I can make the gold required to buy them from traders orders of magnitude faster and use the time I saved to do something more fun, like trying to find an uninterrupted path on the grain on my floorboards that will take me from one side of the living room to the other.

I've also noticed an extremely low drop rate, been farming since launch on different characters quite a few hours a day and only a few green, couple of blue plans and no purple as of yet. @ZOS_Kevin

Wondering if this is as intended?
    Thx

I opened probably hundreds of urns two days ago and yesterday. I got one green plan (lime slice), one blue plan (stone pitcher), and a purple one (sunport hanging flower pot). Not sure yet if the drop rate is that bad. It's not a fun grind, if there could be such a thing.
From what I have seen the prices of the new furnishings is quite low. I couldn't sell the purple flower pot, which looks amazing, with more than 20k in the first week of the chapter. So, it's not really profitable already.

I can't put a finger on what's the issue, but for me something is off with Solstice (I am not talking about subclassing).

Yes. It's horrible. Between the skill grind and the lack of furniture recipes and the horrible story quest ... I mean EWWW. I've not gotten the first plan. (this list reflects my personal experience. mileage may vary)

So... did the Temple of Broken Light again, because of all the urns and jewellery boxes.

You can't get to the last hall anymore after you've done the quests, but you can access everything else.

I looted *everything* that could be looted.
Had to call the deconstruct lady four times, because I ran out of space.

Got a whole bunch of old, white furnishing plans (you know the ones.. "Rough Knife", "Rough Bedroll" and so on). ONe or two old green ones (mostly lvl 1 foodstuff ones).

    And 19 Research Portfolios.

    Opened them all up.

Not a single, new furnishing plan. Not one. >.<

If you got a bunch of while plans that means you already got a blue/purple one an are on a cooldown. The rule of thumb is to loot until you get a blue/purple furnishing plan (the recipes do not count) and switch to another toon after that.

So far, my haul (only about 6 hours of farming):

Urns in Broken Light Temple: 2 Blue Furnishing plans (Tide-born Shelves, Tall and Sunport Fountain, Floral Wall) plus a few Minecart plans and various older patterns from Azandar's portfolios. And innumerable white recipes.

Fishing: 0 (1 pack, I've fished every pool I've seen despite despising fishing. Its been at least 50 pools with both the Artaeum Fish Bowl food active and Sharp-as-Knives out. No Fishing related CP).

Herbs and Ores: 0 (I've picked everything I've come across, much to Azandar's displeasure - Mushrooms! Disgusting!)

Treasure Chests: 1 Lead for Solstice Giant Crocodile Skull, 0 Plans. The Lead came from an Advanced rank chest, improved loot quality CP active.

    Its not great.

*Definitely* not a single purple. And the only blue one that I had in my bag after the Temple run was an old Breton one. And as far as I know (and have experienced myself), there is not cooldown on blue plans. I've plucked blue and purple plans out of the Necrom urns one after the other without a cooldown, when Necrom was new.

Feels like complaining boosts RNG sometimes - I just dug up that Crocodile skull and one of the little bonus chests had "Praxis: Tide-born Firepit, Covered Stone" in it. So it might be that the only way to find the recipes via Antiquities is through finding those little boxes. :'( I don't have the best luck finding those.

I have good news and bad news for you

the bad news, the bonus loot antiquities furnishing plans are their own specific set of 7ish? plans.

The good news, they drop from even the green and blue repeatable antiquities.

To farm them, what you need to do is find the main loot first then connect the smoke plumes all on the same level of dirt and use a fully charged trowel on one of the smoke plumes. this will clear all the dirt connecting the plumes. hovering over one with the trowel can tell you where the current line of clearing is. should be able to get you all three bonus loot items 8/10 times this way.

    How right you are! I just found two green ones in a backpack... ^^;;

It might be possible to get another blue one right after another (personally, I do not think I've experienced this). But if you switch to another toon after getting a blue plan in 99% of cases you won't be getting a white plan until you get another blue or purple. I've done this type of farming in Necrom and Gold Road for an excessive amount of time and this is my experience.

I have one main character. If I'm in the middle of a delve or something like the Temple, I'm not going to log out and try to find an alt that *might* be advanced enough that I can send it to the same location and have it survive.
I do things with my main, because that's what I have time and energy for. And my main should be the one to accomplish most everything, including collecting furnishing plans.
If that requires that every time that I loot a blue one, then I go log out and play WoW for an hour, just so that the 'cooldown' resets, than that is sloppy programming.

Besides... I don't *have* excessive amount of time to farm. I have a life. I have a business. I have responsibilities. Playing ESO is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not another job.

So... if it isn't possible to achieve something simple as collecting furnishing plans, that are a central and *essential* part of this game, then the Devs didn't do their job. Or they assume that we're all unemployed and living off social security. >.>

There is another, additional annoyance that is a part of this...

In the patch notes we were told:

"47 can be collected from a variety of unique sources in Solstice.

14 can be earned from pickpocketing citizens across Solstice.
12 furnishings can be found in Algae-Laden Sunport Packs.
11 can be found in the Solstice treasure map chests.
8 can be collected from Alchemy and Clothier resource nodes in Solstice.
2 can be mined from Blacksmithing and Jewelry resource nodes in Solstice."

I assume that means furnishings, though it's not really clear.

However... This is my harvesting map so far:

    e354gjympge3.jpg

Many of those nodes have been harvested frequently. So far...

Not a single thing aside from the resources has dropped from the nodes. Nada. Zilch. None.

Now, if that's a bug, then I hope it gets taken care of really soon. @ZOS_Kevin

I did not say that it was fun or that it's how it should be. My response was directed at the comment about getting many white plans. If you are just passing through a delve and looting containers on the way, that is not farming plans and I would not expect to get a lot of them this way. Again, I'm not saying that that is how it should be, but I've never got a lot of plans in a reasonable amount of time in any zone but not farming them on purpose.

The drop rate of furnishings from resource nodes is atrocious. I was collecting all the nodes I come across (and the zone does not seem to be generous to begin with in this regard except for runestones), and I got ONE furnishing from an ore node. It's Vvardenfell plants all over again. To whoever designed the drop rate, it's simply not fun.

It does mean furnishings (and not recipes or Leads) - I just looted one: Flowers, Sea Lavender Cluster. One after a solid 12-13 hours or running around picking everything I see (included Runestones and Logs, people have been ignoring those and cherry picking).

I have been farming since Monday, what may equate to ~64 hours.

I have found 2 plants (both from Ancestor Silk)
1 Tapestry from an urn in Ossein Cage.
1 Lime, Display from Ertunyar's pocket.

    Nothing from BS/J nodes.
Nothing from urns in the Temple save old plans... And I mean OLD! Like 2018.
Nothing from Dressers, Nightstands, Backpacks, Chests. And this is both stealing, pickpocketing and straight up free containers.
And the fishing sacks? They may as well be Wet Gunny sacks for the amount of Ta I looted. (Of course, when I say 'looted', I mean, I got the Angler achievement and with that I logged a total of 9 Algae Laden Packs

For some reason, the current set of Devs seems to have forgotten an essential aspect of successful computer games: Dopamine.

Finding treasure, getting achievements, looting fun stuff and useful stuff... it all gives you a dopamine shot as a player.

Being frustrated for hours and hours and days and days does exactly the opposite: it turns paying customers off the product. And what happens then? Customers leave to find their satisfaction somewhere else. Leaving the companies with less and less paying customers.

So, @ZOS_Kevin ... you may want to pass that on to your Devs... we only feel like getting our money's worth when we're actuall *GETTING* stuff... not when we're being frustrated day after day after day after day... >.>
