Subclass skill line leveling

Abstraqt

Can I just confirm I'm understanding this correctly?

I'm a Nightblade and I have a warden fully leveled, I wish to sub class into a warden skill tree. I still have to level my warden skill line from 1-50 on my nightblade once I select the skill line through the quest?

Even though I have a fully leveled warden character?

No issues just wanted to confirm I understand the requirements correctly:)

I was about to ask the same question.
Not for me, but for my gf, as it is a total let-down, while she plays since 11 years, all classes and every skill leveled. And as she saw she have to level everything again, she just logged off and her motivation to play decreased immediately to 0.

came to check forums for this same confirmation, i was under the impression that you wouldnt have to when you have it elsewhere (i have all classes maxed out).

Already unhappy about subclassing and then this slaps me in the face. My time is too valuable to mindlessly have to grind out the same things twice.

What was even the point of these new Class Mastery achievements then...

I think the PTS has also confused this a little as if you switched into ALTS then to the new one, you would have all lines at level 50 but that seems incorrect now.

This too was a bit of a downer as having to relevel isn't ideal - especially since the EXP event ends. Maybe they should increase the EXP event for 3 more days or so to help people get accustomed and try things out?

Well, they have been giving out a lot of XP scrolls as daily login rewards over the past couple of months, and said to hang on to them... for this exact reason. I have at least five 150%, ten 100% and several 50% scrolls... and I've equipped leveling gear including Heartland Conqueror set and points into new green Artisan node. Using only a 100% scroll for an hour- so combined with event it's 200%, I've leveled two skill lines to 40 in just an hour.

A streamer today showed how to level a skill line to 50 with an average of 20 master writs per skill line. He level 5 skill lines with a total of 100 alchemy master writs.

Granted today was a bonus xp day. But still.. took him all of 15 minutes to level a skill line from 1 - 50 with master writs.

    Gotta say, that's pretty simple.

To be honest, I accepted the fact that if you have one character, you need to level up all branches at once. But I'm sorry, when people have leveled up additional characters to the maximum and are asked to level them up again when they log in, the game leaves me with mixed feelings. I'm sitting here now and realizing that I don't want to play it.
I was left with a negative impression of the zone and the plot after exploring it on the PTS, and the new system only exacerbated my attitude towards the game as a whole.
Having played for 11 years, I have certainly seen a lot in the game, but I was disappointed by systems such as hybridization, new battlegrounds, and now the new subclass system.
Now I'm looking at other games and waiting for AION 2. Of course, there is a bit of resentment, since I really like the scroll universe itself, and it looked cool in the MMO format, but considering all the factors, TESO will remain an RPG game for me that I can play once every 2-4 years for the sake of the storyline.

Alchemy writs are 100k+ gold on traders already.

It surprises me, that ZOS isn't selling class skill lines in the crown store. That was my guess, how they tried to milk subclasses.

It also surprises me, that everyone is accepting the grind. Sadly not everyone got the time for the drill again.

yeah - given you the prices for master writs thats "only" 1 Mil upwards per skill line (30k per writ is a low estimate)

you can´t simply create them out of the blue without an armada of crafting toons - super simple really

Just levelled up siphoning and animal companions, discounting my enlightenment XP, assuming you have the event XP which still has a few hours to go and a 150% XP scroll/potion.

Make sure to put green champion points in the new star that increases active skill levelling by up to 15%

Roughly you will want 70 - 80 master writs ready to go just to be safe to max out 2 skills and all their morphs.

Just make a point to save the initial two skills in the armoury and switch back to that build to switch to the other morphs.

Once the event ends I would say 120 would likely be enough to do the same.

So during an event you would likely need a max of 840 master writs to do the lot and maybe around 1200+ outside an event with just the 150% XP bonus.

Those are only rough estimates, kind of wish I had stockpiled more than 140 writs before today, prices are going to go through the roof for quite awhile, thankfully it is a one off expenditure so, if your patient you can wait out the price hikes.

This bugged me a bit at first but I realised I was being stupid : I was trying to level a skill line with 2 skills on the bar I think. Then reading something later on I was reminded that it levels faster with more skills on the bar (it's been a while since I needed to level a class skill line.) Once that was sorted out I had mostly the same skills on the same bar and just wandering around killing mobs + a few dolmens had it flying towards the later stages easily.

It is an xp event though and I also chose a champions point passive that boosts skill xp I think by 15% (in the green part) + used 1 or 2 +50% xp scrolls. If it was a several days long grind I'd be bothered but with enough skills on your bar from the same line and one or more xp boosts it can be grinded out pretty quickly I think.

It can also seem absolutely mad combining some of these skill lines and that alone can make the grind almost non-existent for a while as just playing with the new combos can be way more interesting. For that though you do have to be lucky by having the skills you're after unlocking early in the line (i had templar jabs + sorc frags to help me fast on a 2nd char recently). If not though it doesn't take that long anyway, maybe just mess around with other skills to help pass the time.
I was about to ask the same question.
Not for me, but for my gf, as it is a total let-down, while she plays since 11 years, all classes and every skill leveled. And as she saw she have to level everything again, she just logged off and her motivation to play decreased immediately to 0.

If you have this issue you're maybe best focusing on getting one or two chars sorted and enjoying playing them for a while and leave whatever else. Then if you feel the need to do more later it's been spaced out and you're not combining a bigger grind together at once.

I'm maybe lucky here too though as I only use 3 chars currently. I've got the skills I wanted for 2 of them already and I'm leaving the 3rd as the base class for now. Actually now that I think of it maybe not, haha. More grinding later maybe.

If I need to level 2 skill lines, is it faster/more efficient to level 1 skill line at a time with 6 skills equipped, or is it better to level 2 skill lines simultaneously with 3 skills each slotted?

When you create a new character, that character's skill points have to be earned from scratch. They not related to any other character progression. So why would this be a surprise?

Because subclassing is not a new character.
If you logged through every character, you even unlocked each skill line in your collectible and got an achievement, yet you have to grind everything again.
I am happy you all have enough time for that useless grind, but others haven't and are sick to grind stuff again, that has been done in the last years.

It is my observation/understanding that multiclass skills level like a companion. You unlock skill A on character 1, level it up and just unlock on character 2 with skill A leveled up.

In this way one could level multiple skills on various alts, then only unlock the skills you want on your main
Perhaps this can speed up and offset some ot the time and cost of swapping skills.

    Best regards

You can't level 1 at a time with 6 skills equipped until you've already leveled that skill line to 42 anyway, because you won't have unlocked all 6 skills yet. Definitely level 2 skill lines at a time, keep the number of skills on your bar from each skill line as even as you can, and pay attention to which individual skills are at what rank so you're morphing them as soon as possible and once they're fully leveled remove them from your bar to replace with ones you haven't leveled yet.

By using a 150% xp scroll and burning through a few hundred master writs I leveled all subclass skill lines to 50 and leveled at least 1 morph of every skill by doing 2 subclass skill lines at a time last night. It's the most efficient way to do it.

What I did was at Rank 12 I put an ultimate from one of the new subclass lines on my bar and then at rank 20 I put another skill from that line on my bar and then swapped in the ultimate from the other skill. That way I had 3 "abilities" from the two subclass lines on my bar as fast as possible.

It doesn't take much time at all that way.

Here is how we do it.

Grab a friend. Take one of your characters with 20 skill points.

Pop a grand experience scroll, load the first skill in the subclass line. (This refunds the skill points from your old skill line so you have a pool of about 40 skill points)

Do Blackrose prison, normal. After the first round, your skill will be ~25. Load up your bar with all the new skills,

When you finish BRP you will be skill 50. Be sure to load your bar with your new skills between rounds (but keep a good damage skill).

Takes about 45 minutes for us.

Then you can dump that new skill line (costs 1500 gold) and repeat the whole process

That's a good way to do it if you don't have a ton of master writs or can't afford to/don't want to buy tons of master writs at exorbitant prices. If you have plenty of master writs, though, you can level 2 subclass lines fully as well as leveling 1 morph of each of the skills in about 15-20 minutes.

At least with sub classes its account wide so if one non sorcerer learned the sorcerer skills all other couild use it.

I spent roughly six hours yesterday, three of which were still while 100% event XP was ongoing... and I was able to fully level 10 skill lines. I equipped full leveling gear with Heartland Conqueror set and used a few 150% and 100% XP scrolls. I made sure to equip three skills from each line and then morphed them as they were available- swapping out skills when more important skills became available. So not only was I able to level the skill lines quickly, I was also able to fully level up the morphed skills as well.

I did this by just running a regular public dungeon for hours and having a DPS companion and mainly used Lightning staff for damage- depending on what skills I had equipped at the time. When I was leveling healer skill lines, my DPS companion helped a lot.

… No??? I’ve switched out skill lines before getting them to 50 plenty of times. When you’re redoing skills, you just select the subclassing, choose a new class and skill line, and select the one you want to replace.
