An Unhealthy Fate: Confronting Vaermina Advice appreciated

Stage One I think
I had to quit the game because Ghost Sight quit after the first try and would not come back. After that, Meln seemed "fixed" and would bring it back on a somewhat regular basis. I play the game solo and perhaps my weapon, destruction staff is not powerful enough to destroy the clones fast enough. They seem to spawn very fast and cover the area with beams every where. I have only managed to kill them off twice and then a second wave appears fairly soon.
I try running about and hitting the clones as I can but sooner or later I get hit by multiple beams and it is over.
The toon is a lvl 50 Sorcerer. I don't know if I need to abandon this quest (I think I would be able to come back and access the story line) go dungeon delving for better equipment and try to come back or what.
I am an older player, so I am not real nimble with the keyboard anyway, old Arthur has hold of my hands. Perhaps I am at my limit at this one. I have not been able to find a guild that matches me yet either.
