Jumping around Vivec City crafting area.

As a personal challenge, when I'm bored, I occasionally like to see how far I can get towards making the "floor is lava" loop around here.

Does anyone else do this? Anyone else managed the full loop, in either direction?

- On a mount, start out at the ramp in front of the crafting table.
- Up onto the platforms by Foreman Svadstar
- Jump across onto the forge chimney.
- From there across onto the watchtower by the Clothing Station, dismounting to pause forward momentum.
- On foot, jump onto the city wall to the left of the tree, but not jumping over the wall (if you jump to the right of the tree, you can't make your way along the wall)
- Walk along the wall on top of the arch over the city entrance.
- Back onto a mount, to jump onto the mushroom on the other side of the arch.
- From there to the watchtower.
- ... but that's as far as I've got! The last mounted jump, from the watchtower into Foreman Svadstar's platform, eludes me.

It's possible: I've done it without it being part of a loop, just jumping over to the watchtower and back. But it takes me a few tries. Back up, blocking, to the far side of the watchtower's platform, summon a mount, run, and jump. With a fast enough mount, and minimal lag/stutter, you can just make it.

I can see three other possible routes from that watchtower back to the platforms with the original ramp, but I've made none of them work.

1) Apparently simplest: on a mount, jump the gap between the watchtower and the platform the starting ramp leads to: circle complete! But the watchtower doesn't seem to have enough space to get up enough speed to make that jump. Maybe if I don't stop after the jump from the mushroom cap, and just keep riding through the tower and jump, I can make it? Very tricky, though.

2) More complicated, but maybe easier: Jump down onto the wood pile, then up onto the fence between the woodpile and the stacks of tiles. The fence seems just a tiny bit too high to make the jump, though: I've never managed to jump onto it from the woodpile. Then along the fence onto Foreman Svadstar's platform, and back to the ramp.

3) Maybe feasible: from the watchtower onto the fence or stacks of tiles, then up onto Foreman Svadstar's platform.

Going the other way might also be possible, but the only potential route I can see has a lot lower and fiddlier jumps, and also seems to have an impossible jump:

- On a mount, start out at the ramp in front of the crafting table.
- Run up the ramp, curve right slightly, and jump onto the watchtower (easiest to jump in over the railing, dismounting to pause forward momentum).
- From there onto the wall/mushroom, archway, and round to the watchtower by the clothing station. Sadly, I don't see a way to get back up onto this watchtower, which would allow jumping across to the forge chimney, and thence to Foreman Svadstar's platform. Instead, we have to take a lower route.
- Along the wood fence around the Clothing Station.
- On to the strange stirring device.
- Across to the troughs by the blacksmith (surprisingly hard jump to get right).
- Across to the Blacksmithing Station.
- Across to the crate.
- ??? Magic happens here ??? The blocks at the base of the forge chimney look walkable, but sadly are not.
- To the trestle by the Woodworking Station.
- Two stacks of planks and a stack of stone blocks take you back to the ramp.

I try to see if I can get on top of the big chimney, but that's as close to this as I get.

I managed to get on the chimney once. I like seeing people standing on those high places in Vivec City. If a Warden puts down a portal, I will use it to join the party.

I was wondering many times how people come on the chimney in Vivec City - then observed one guy how he did it and tried the same. Well, its nice view up there. :)

Fair point - "idling" might be a better term. When I'm hanging out and don't have anything specific to do, it's something to keep my fingers occupied :) Plus... it's fun!

It can be fun to set yourself personal challenges,: don't even need an achievement or some kind of ingame currency for achieving them. Though this might only be a trait of what, in his taxonomy of player types, Richard Bartle dubbed the "Explorer" player type: the same people that see if we can get to the top of each mountain, explore every of map, and so on. So whether you'd have fun with it depends on your preferred playstyle: don't let me tell you what you should enjoy!
